The site was right at the edge of a canyon here in west Texas; lots of opportunity for dramatic views. I set the western terrace in the plan above so that it gives the illusion that it's suspended over the edge.

Very old illustration, much more "concept art" than the artifact-inspired style that would dominate the later pieces. I didn't have a tablet at the time; this was a scanned pencil drawing with the coloring done entirely in PS using a mouse.

Blindsided by the responses to this. I expected a lot more cynicism and accusations of selling out. I know this would make money, so I’ll almost certainly pursue it in the future. My promise to you is that it will be worth your time.
