⭕️ Doug Latta’s Trigger Drill ⭕️
♦️ Move with good balance & connection ♦️
♦️ Maintain your line
♦️ Make 1 move to the ball
✅ Good for hitters that are bat and throw opposite
✅ Hitters that pull/yank with front side
🧠You’re going to cave to the ego and try to do too much at times. Have the awareness to identify when the game speeds you up. Don’t be afraid to dial back the effort when you feel sped up. You’ll surprise yourself how efficient & precise you can be when you slow yourself down🧠
⭕️ Connection Ball Swings ⭕️
♦️ Use Ball To Maintain Connection
♦️ Swing Down Your Line
♦️ Stride w/ Good Balance
♦️ Stay Squared
♦️ 1 Move To The Ball
✅ Good For Players That ✅
➖ Cast their hands/barrel
➖ Disconnect into rotation
♦️Pull Without Spinning Off♦️
⚡️Hitters w/ flatter bat paths tend to over-rotate and lose direction with their front side. Instead of trying to force more VBA we focus on keeping the chest over home and being firm with the frontside to maintain good direction.
@LandonBruce2023
⚡️Hit Through Spin⚡️
✅ Hanging breaking balls pop out of the hand. As hitters we must be discipline enough to maintain posture over home plate and not stand up/pull off the ball.
✅ Keep your head and front shoulder down on the ball so your barrel can work through the break.
♦️Bottom Hand Off Bat♦️
If you battle a dominant front side give this drill a shot and see if helps you get your front side more reactive
➖Hitters with dominant front side
➖Hitters that bar lead arm during stride
Tag the OG of this drill to give them their props. 🤙🏼
⚡️Smooth. No Panic⚡️
✔️ It’s important we don’t “Panic” when we swing. Panic causes us to false fire and have bat drag.
❓What is panic? Panic is when our first move is muscly, forced, rigid, jerky etc.
➖Two of the best to ever teach it both told me to “chase the ball off the barrel with my barrel”. I always thought that was a solid mental cue to help me feel my body and barrel getting through the ball. Try it out and tell me what what you think.➖
♦️ If you catch yourself pulling off the ball place the tee low and away on the black. To drive this pitch we as hitters have to carry and maintain our posture on/over home plate. Any front side move off our line and we forfeit any chance we had at driving this pitch. ♦️
⭕️ Top Hand Towards Pitcher ⭕️
♦️Keep top hand palm-up and out towards pitcher
♦️Rotate while maintaining posture & direction

1️⃣ Recoil Swings - get the body to “sling” the barrel. The emphasis on pulling backs get the body to stop accelerate and decelerate in a short window.
♦️Yoga Block Strides♦️
✅Create tension in the rear glute
✅Maintain tension as you stride off the block
✅Stay squared during stride
✅Deliver your swing back thru the ball
♦️ Having the ability to stay on the ball plays a big factor in being consistent. A lot of young hitters make front side moves taking their body and barrel path off the ball. Move the body with good connection & balance. Front side stays in line so backside can deliver. ♦️

⚡️Getting the pelvis to stabilize and stop is 🔑 for transferring energy. A lot hitters over-rotate their pelvis causing bat drag. Stabilizing the lower 1/2 allows pelvis to stop and send energy to the next segment.
⚡️Hit Through Spin⚡️
✔️ When we recognize the breaking ball we have to maintain & trust our direction to hit through it. Staying down with our head/shoulder/chest will keep our barrel on through the ball.
⚡️Maintain Posture⚡️
❌ Expose the flaw.
✔️ This particular hitter tends to stand upand out of posture. We put the vest on to try and pull him up and out of posture which forces him to maintain his head/chest over home.

➖ I put a fat grip on my one handed bat once. I liked it for myself. Helped me maintain palm-up/palm-down in an exaggerated lag type of feel. Def isn’t for everybody but if you’re a player who likes & needs to feel an extreme palm-up/palm-down feel maybe give this a shot.➖
✅ As a hitter, timing is everything. The ability to be on time to hit the ball back through the middle gives us the adjustability we need when we’re early or a little late. And it’s not just about being on time - a great hitter can cover different windows of timing with ease.
