When he played Fatboys, he'd shove rolled up copies of the Leader down his socks rather than shin pads. Even when he was offered some, he'd say "I've played for 40 years without shin pads, I'm not starting now"

We are saddened to learn of the passing of Fred Weatherill who held every role in a long association with us, including winning the Intermediate Cup in 1975 & most recently as assistant to Dave John
