I welcome the Ukraine Parliament vote to restore the independence of the country’s anti-corruption functions. As I said when I met civil society organisations this week, Ukraine’s struggles for independence, sovereignty and justice don’t compete with but reinforce each other. 1/2

The @EBRD echoes concerns expressed by the EU, G7 Ambassadors and international partners on developments around NABU and SAPO in Ukraine. The independence of anti-corruption entities is a key pillar of the Rule of Law. We will remain engaged with the authorities on this issue.

It was a pleasure to meet @Denys_Shmyhal again. @EBRD works closely and fruitfully with Ukraine's government as well as its private sector. We're looking forward to announcing an expansion of our cooperation across a variety of sectors at #URC2025 in Rome next week.

Thanks too to Commissioners Dan Jørgensen and @MartaKosEU for discussion of our shared priorities, boosting energy security in the EU and its neighbourhood, especially Ukraine and Moldova, and supporting candidate countries on their accession journey.

And I also saw @dumitru_alaiba, #Moldova's Deputy Prime Minister, for a very substantive conversation about @EBRD's investment in energy infrastructure and support for reforms, especially in the context of EU accession and the @EU_Commission's Growth Plan.

I had a great discussion with @Svyrydenko_Y at the #EIBforum this morning as to how @EBRD can continue to support #Ukraine's infrastructure at this critical juncture for the country. We @EBRD continue to affirm our full support for 🇺🇦

Thank you, @eucopresident Antonio Costa, for a productive discussion on strengthening the @EBRD partnership with the EU in neighbouring countries. We reaffirmed our commitment to supporting Ukraine, where EBRD is the largest institutional investor. Obrigado!

This has been my 5th visit to #Ukraine since the full-scale invasion. Such visits reflect both @EBRD's duty and our need to engage directly with @ZelenskyyUa, the government and our clients to ensure we provide effective support on top of the €6.2 billion deployed already.

In my discussions with @Denys_Shmyhal I praised Ukraine's resilience and courage. Together, they can both help drive its recovery and growth. @EBRD's support is aligned with the country's immediate needs and its long-term aspirations, including EU accession.

I have been saddened today to hear of the passing of Horst Köhler, former @EBRD President and a dedicated advocate for global development. His leadership and commitment to peace and sustainability leave a lasting legacy. My condolences to his family and loved ones.

Where else but #WEF25 and #Davos do you have the chance to join @ZelenskyyUa and some of #Ukraine's biggest supporters as well as sit down with the likes of @avucic, @presidentaz, Egypt's PM Mostafa Madbouly and @RaniaAlMashat all in the course of one day?

Among the meetings so far was a very warm discussion with @g_paluckas, the new prime minister of Lithuania, a country where we invested a record €233 million last year, and a chance encounter in the corridors of the Congress Centre with @Tsihanouskaya from Belarus.
