2/4 Key changes are required to be made to the Children and Family Relationships Act 2015 in order to ensure all such children are protected. A number of LGBT+ families are presenting to members of the Oireachtas on Wednesday 25 January.

The organisation is working towards the realisation of an AIDS-free generation in tandem with the Irish Government and HSE. Today we encourage all our friends and members to donate to @HIVIreland and/or to take some steps to further educate yourself about HIV and AIDS.

HIV has not gone away – there is still a vital need to raise money, increase awareness, fight prejudice and improve education. @HIVIreland has contributed towards a significant reduction in the incidence of HIV in Ireland.

The global situation is not the same today as it was in 1984, as massive scientific and legal advances have been made to bolster HIV treatment, to protect and support people living with HIV and to prevent transmission of the virus.

There are an estimated 38 million people worldwide who have HIV. Despite HIV only having been identified in 1984, more than 35 million people have died of HIV or AIDS-related illnesses, making it one of the most destructive pandemics in history.
