You may have seen a certain twitter journalist beloved by white supremacist groups blaming people with "out of state plates" for starting Oregon fires. I and other OPB reporters have spoken with multiple eyewitnesses who saw downed powerlines start many of the fires.

I’m just so proud of this project & the depth of @conradjwilson & @AustinJenkinsN3’s reporting. Ryan is a brilliant editor who managed not to hurt me when I asked if they could turn a year’s worth of stellar reporting into an hour-long documentary in a couple weeks LEADERSHIP.
Until 2019, no one in OR or WA had tracked who was dying in our local jails or why. I was lucky enough to work on a team doing that, and helped make this radio documentary. Heavy subject, but I think it speaks to big issues in the criminal justice system. https://t.co/bmhnYxOazg
