keep making whats true to you. all these scenes come and go. people and places fade. make what you want to grow old with and if possible find the people who you want to grow old with too.
record reviews -> people buy records -> people go to concerts -> people tell friends -> people read record reviews-> people buy records ->people go to concerts -> people tell friends -> people read record reviews-> people buy records ->people go to concerts -> people read record
My new album, Far In, is out today on 4AD
It is a document of so many moments with friends. It's a kiss on your frontal lobe. This is the album I've wanted to make for most of my life.
buy now and listen forever.
your work is your work
know that if your work doesn't appear on end of the year lists you're most likely doing the right thing
these lists come and go. the work you make continues to resonate infinitely. their taste is fickle and limited
thank u for making your music/art
i havent talked about influences for my album much but visually there are so many. Freddy Mamani is a big one. He is a Bolivian architect making dreamlike buildings. bold shapes and colors. its its own world. i wrote a song called Out There thinking about the repetition and forms
My new album This Is How You Smile is out today on

2 days from now I'll share a new song
I’m extremely honored to announce that I am a 2019 United States Artists Fellow in Music. (Holy shit)
I didn’t know how much this would mean to me, but it has definitely given me a new energy and new perspective on previous and future work.
Friends! I have a new album coming out on
@rvngintl
called “This Is How You Smile” + today we share a song called “Please Won’t Please”. Its been a far in journey to get to where I am today sharing this. Mostly ecstatic about the release of it all. Share:
Köln was fun — Europe confuses me. There was love in the crowd but folks calling me Pablo Escobar. I wanted to love every minute of tonight. Pero wyt ppl still the same por todas partes.
i feel this sentiment. pitchfork album reviews for a few albums of mine lifted me up (spiritually + tangibly). we all want to loved + heard. its a special feeling when someone listens and shares writing that harness' words that amplify the songs and sounds they are talking about.
I remember wanting to give up on having a music career & I had a long talk with my mom about it the night before Urban Driftwood came out. Then at 2am I read Sam Sodomsky’s amazing review of my record… I wept & changed my mind. It’s such a shame what’s happening with Pitchfork.
🌟 NEW SONG + VIDEO + NEW ALBUM 🌟

On tour— car broken into — stuff was stolen. I hope all that stuff makes whoever stole it happy. This is the second time I’ve been robbed on tour 🤷🏾♂️
As you get older you’re just a time stretched version of the baby you. With artifacts and aliasing turning into something different but still recognizable. Little grains of you and your life shimmering through time. Weird and crusty and pretty and confusing
Love to all the people who lost their jobs today at Pitchfork. Hoping there is a silver lining for all of the talented writers and passionate music lovers.
Cats out of the bag, read below if you want to know where I moved.
😭WOW - Thank you,
@erictorresx
, for spending time with me and talking about all things life and music and writing this BEAUTIFUL piece!
I’ll never forget when the fbi called me up after tracking me+ my friends down when we were in art school filming some boats for class. They were tipped off that two black and brown kids looked suspicious. This was September 20 years ago. They made sure I knew I was on a “list”.
21 year old me in 2001. Photo is at a former hair salon called House Of Wavelengths that friends rented out + put shows on. The shows were so wild. Sonically it was always a surprise. That night we performed improvised electronic rhythms and sound. LSD included.
a new (s)milestone :)🪨
@HeladoNegro
’s this is how you smile turned 5 (!) this month. this album has always brought a distinct warmth to our label, and roberto has amazed us with the bounty of music he’s been a part of since. we’re (two) lucky to have intersected when we did 🫂
a large portion of my life I worked as a foley artist + sound designer for for films and TV (short form and commercials). Learning how to perform actions creating foley to recreate footsteps or specific action honed my brain to listen to the world differently.
the movies Silvia Prieto + Rapado were movies that had a profound effect on me while making my new album. There is a special delivery with the actors in each scene. hard to put my finger on. its an odd cadence that you fall into immediately.
This is the album cover for PHASOR. All of the beautiful drawings are by
@kristi_sword
. She works in intricate + detailed process'. The design is by Crystal Zapata who masterfully pulled the drawings together to create this album cover.
GIRA EN MEXICO!

When I turned 40 it was as if a trap door of old stress opened and all this weight was gone. Still concerned but the hooks have no effect on me.
Maybe temporarily but less rumination.
Maybe I’m just losing my mind.
Thank you to:
Angela Morris, Jason Trammell, Nathaniel Morgan, Opal Hoyt and Taja Cheek for taking this time to create these new versions for
@newsounds
🖤
.
Infinitely grateful to John Schaefer, Irene and David for doing all that you do 🙌🏾❤️
I have a new song out today called Outside The Outside🌤 listen and watch the video: 🖤
When I sing Outside the Outside, it's about being a part of communities of outsiders. My family came to this country as outsiders looking for and finding community. (1)
