My G4 friends are using their new learning about pulleys and gears to design/build an elevator that will safely lift and lower a small character a distance of 10 cm. #STEM #problemsolving #Steam

My G3 friends are using their knowledge of strong and stable structures to design/build a bridge that can hold at least five marbles in a cup, and allow safe passage for a tiny car. #buildabridge #STEM #youngengineers

Exciting news in Room 216! We finally got a HEPA filter! Now, all classes from K - G3 have them.

Rm 216’s young mathematicians are developing their algebraic reasoning by finding the “mystery numbers” in equations using bar diagrams and balance scales. We are LOVING being back in partners again because it’s always better when we’re together!

All Rm 216 staff and all but a few of our students are masked today. The vibes are calm and respectful ☺️. Students are now seated in partners, facing the front. Those who are not comfortable with a desk partner can choose to be an island.

Today, we took our square metres outside to measure larger surface areas. I saw some effective problem solving, beautiful use of multiplicative thinking and a few funny battles with the wind. #mathoutside #handsonlearning #noteasybreezy

If you’ve travelled over March Break, please protect others by wearing a mask for the first couple of weeks back. Stay home if you have any symptoms.

Hands on learning about surface area is strengthening spatial sense in Room 216.

We need to keep wearing masks in our schools to protect those who are medically fragile. You may be healthy enough to fight covid, but not all of us are so lucky.
