I’m honored to share that I was recently hired as staff sports photographer for
@GettyImages
and, in a few weeks, will be based in Philadelphia!
I know I’ll be the dad or uncle showing up to the T-ball games with a 600mm lens or making a photo booth for the dances. Shiiiiiit, no bloodline of mine finna look pixelated and that’s word is bond 😂😂😂
I didn’t get the full feeling in my fingers for 10 days and it was the only match the remote properly worked 😂 Unlike them, I could wear four layers!

The ref’s eyebrows were literally frozen during the coldest game ever played in MLS history 🥶
A fun first Super Bowl experience in the books! What a fantastic opportunity with our Getty team.
I need so much Tiger Balm; my joints and back got me sounding like the tin man 😂
Our remotes were acting a whole fool within an hour of tip-off. Lots of troubleshooting, but the
@GettySport
team got everything squared away just in time.
Shoutout to the late, great Dave “Mullet” Martin for putting me on game on using foot pedals to trigger remotes in 2013.
It’s not every day that Champions League juggernauts

visit Louisville, Kentucky. But when they do, you bring a ball, boots & of course, bourbon.

Took my mom and sis out for cheesesteaks and a tour of Philly on a gorgeous spring afternoon today 😁
The perfect cap to a fun, hectic last couple weeks on the road. The perfect start to another few busy weeks ahead!
Covered DC’s protests for
@USATODAY
& trekked 10 miles w/ too much gear on my waist. Met some wonderful people & everything hurts in the best way. Despite a quick wash outside, I’ll enjoy some bourbon in an epsom salt bath. I made it home but others won’t. That’s why they march.

Never expected a camera + love of a ball could take me this far or put me in such dope company like this…
@mowwgan_
I’d get fired for that. Not just at Getty, but even as a student in our college athletics dept. You’re missing what you’re hired to do!
We’re all fans of something. That’s fine! But you better be 10x more focused than everyone else on getting the moment when it counts 🤷🏾♂️

Last week I had the opportunity to spend a few days with
@RacingLouFC
for
@GettySport
as they prepared for their inaugural
@NWSL
match on Saturday.
I'm still working on the wider edit, but it was quite an honor to spend that time, rain and shine, with one of my hometown clubs.
High emotions, a rain shower, an injury-time equaliser and even a rainbow came out for the historic debut of
@RacingLouFC
🌈
The
@NWSL

Our love isn’t built on a fetish.
I’ll always embrace and give to my culture despite the side eyes and sneers.
There’s still a long way to go, but love, regardless of race or orientation, shouldn’t be stigmatized.

Some personal/professional news: after three years in Denver at Clarkson Creative, I’m heading back east to Washington, D.C. to begin work as an independent photographer!
Thursday was last day and I started my trek yesterday. I’m so damn excited!
My noggin was overworking the last couple days & I was in a real funk before I left for Flyers tonight. So, I swapped shirts, had a hyped yell in the car and listened to my favorite Haikyu Spotify playlist on my way to the game. It’s the little, odd things we do to

For anyone going into a “creative” field, what advice would you give 17-18 year old you?
I may get to chat with a HS senior about the sports photo world (ie: college, networking, freelancing, internships). Everyone’s path’s different, so the perspectives are appreciated!

It’s such an honor to be part of a dope inaugural class of recipients! Doug was one of the best storytellers and humans in the business. I can only hope to keep improving and to eventually pay forward the opportunities this profession has given me.
A while back I learned about wrapping an old credential with gaff tape in case you need some in a pinch. Anyone else do this (or some other equivalent)?
In August, I had the opportunity to spend 25 days in Costa Rica covering the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup for

How are we supposed to tell students “Don’t work for free” then advocate for unpaid internships?! Sorry, Bubba, but them maths don’t math.
I did one and said never again. Why? B/c I constantly had to call home for *gas money* and sometimes my family could barely help with that.
I’m one of not many here, but no snide nor sneer can steer this smile towards a pile of the rank and file.
My colleagues invited me because I’m good and help me become great. Never did I think this would be my fate, but with ever day I look ahead

I’m at a point where I’m at major events, seeing and working with so many people from different industries who I’ve revered for years. And they treat me so well! It’s such a surreal, out of body experience when the thought crosses my mind; one I absolutely cannot take for granted
9th grade: I ran track and did a couple sprint events against Ronnie Baker. I thought I was fast for my group! He was 10-15m ahead after the gun fired 🥴
We were both at the 100m final at the Tokyo Olympics. One of us was competing, the other photographing it in the stands 😂
I got a chance to take a second look at some of the scenes I saw from yesterday's protests in downtown D.C. It was peaceful (I honestly didn't hear or see any inter-protestor disputes) and seemed community-driven to succeed.
I had the opportunity to spend five days documenting some wonderful folks from
@thehoopbus
during their Hoop for Justice stop in DC last week. Awesome doesn't properly describe the experience. Check out my IG (timnwachukwu) or FB page (NwachukwuWorks) for the wide edits.
I normally don't get hyped on here before an assignment, but I'm really looking forward to being at the

final this weekend for

Last match ended around 1:30a Mecca time yesterday, left for the airport at 3:30. Been home maybe 30 minutes and, while the streets were much calmer and cleaner in Doha, it’s nice to be back home in Philly with my favorite little loaf ❤️
I virtually caught up with family, spent some time with Alex, edited a great Saints/Vikings game & ate my sister’s dank cooking. Now on to sipping some Bulleit 95 Rye & finishjng Legend of Korra.
Idk what I did to get such a privileged Christmas but I’m truly, truly thankful.
Today I heard some racist abuse from a couple “fans” to some players, and then a bit towards me for calling it out.
I’m fine now but still sad it even happened. I can’t fix that mentality, but I won’t let bullshit like that desecrate any sport, let alone the Beautiful Game.

Unfortunately I tested positive for Covid yesterday. I was supposed to leave for Paralympics Friday! I’m a little sore, lightly coughing and tired, but better to know at home than abroad!
Please get vaxxed and tested if you can, or at least wear a mask and wash your hands.
Was talking to some homies about living in Denver earlier; thought about Elijah.
Even something as mundane as eating my feelings with ice cream now; I think of Botham.
Tomorrow I’ll think of Breonna when I wake up because, fortuitously, I wasn’t murdered in my sleep.

One of the worst part about adhd is the anxiety + depression comorbidity.
The self-loathing is so embarrassing. Almost as embarrassing as the action (or inaction) that causes it.
Fighting my own brain is a trip. I’m just glad for the info & language I have now to get through
This is why we have to take photos without our credentials on. Easy to manipulate and royally fuck over actual credentialed people who work their asses off for these opportunities.
30 seconds in and had to stop before I yelled something I’d regret. Don’t ever be this guy. Ever.
I had a brief moment while waiting to be credentialed where I thought about how someone could do this. To see someone actually did is pretty terrifying.
They each raised $500+ for the

scholarship fund & performed 50+ hours of community service to go on a weeklong trip & do *more* service throughout the USA. I’m so thankful that I could meet these brilliant folks & see some of my best friends lead them along the way.
Great pictures are everywhere if you look hard enough and go in treating people well!
It’s possible to make a beautiful sports portfolio from amateur/semi-pro, preps, small college, and even beer league games!

I walked 35 miles last week in some ungodly heat/humidity + a few dozen pounds of gear on my back. Helping on the opening ceremony edit made this year’s super bowl feel like a cakewalk.
I’m having a blast and the old heads are right: covering this is a marathon not a sprint!

Elijah McClain hit extra hard. I photographed Aiden Lawrence’s funeral due to teen gun violence earlier that day in Aurora not far from where McClain was ambushed later.

15-Year Flash Back - A Dedication to Dad
I wrote some words about my dad because I miss him so much (a couple more than 280 characters). It feels like the eulogy I wanted to give all this time. If you feel inclined to read along, I made screenshots instead of a long thread.
