I should be considered the top authority on the porn discourse, and here I am on the outside ! . Anyway, there is evidence indicating women do like being choked sexually. Most of this discourse seems puritan regarding sex itself.

The increase in sexual choking has nothing to do with porn. Most people choke their partners because they want to, and most people have positive perceptions because they like it — not because they saw it. Porn is not to blame here! .

Sexual choking has become mainstream, and it's pretty clear it's driven more by women’s desire to be choked than by men’s desire to choke.

The idea of social learning theory being present in porn has been an issue noted since the 80s, but even then the research could not demonstrate a causal connection. Even today, "learning from porn" has week evidence as most of the associations are not causal, tbw.

3) As Anna argues, anyone with a brain would expect people to copy what they see in porn! Except they do not. Not only do porn consumers know that porn is fake, but even when told its fake and directed it has no effect on one's attitudes towards sex.

Even then, while violence in porn is not as prevalent or popular as Anna is making it out to be, it's primarily women who are into such content! Women are more likely to search for violent content, like "rape" and "humiliation.".

Even if we assume such acts, like hair pulling, for example, are "violence", then people like Anna would be happy to hear that porn videos with violence get less views, less likes and are favorited less. Consumers do not like violence towards women.

. the fact that Bridges paper is more of a critical view of how people have sex is a good example of scientific papers hiding themes of descriptive statements on how sex ought to be rather than how it is, as noted in Weizter and another critical commentary from 2021.

. treated as "violence", even though most people can tell the difference between something like mutilation and hair pulling. Even in Bridge's own data, it's clear "violence" -- that we think of colloquially -- is not very present in porn videos. Indeed. .

2) "88% of porn videos feature violence" This is based of Bridges et al., but the authors of this paper had a very broad definition of what's considered "violence." For example, stuff like spanking and hair pulling, which are normal acts people do during sex, are.
