Going to look at doing this a style I've seen recently, which is open source but with a paid build/updater. I mean, if it ever takes off πŸ˜… But for that kind of thing, I need to make sure to get the licensing right, from the get go.

There is, of course, a bunch of questions still. Like the driving force of the game, if there will be a combat element, off-ship shinanigans, setting routes, theme, multiple decks, how do we make it kinda #cute etc. Considering some Cthulhu dread though. Cutethulhu? Anyway. .

As your ship grows, it'll get heavier and slower. To alleviate that, and to reduce the need to fly around to random corners of the map for different resources, you can build secondary automated ships and stationary storage ships.

Been scoping out the #factory #game I'm writing with #bevy a little more. Currently I'm thinking that I'll make it resolve around building flying mobile factories, yourself being the pilot and architect. You'll need to construct a factory to power your thrusters and other systems.

Been having some fun playing around with signed distance fields at the moment. Looking at writing a retro-inspired 3D renderer, raycasting 2D SDFs extruded into 3D space (prisms) and portals. Should be some non-euclidean fun.

(It seems to manage this speed in large part from cache line hits. Adding an extra byte to the structure slows it down by 2ns/op, which is horrifying. Given the speed multithreading is also unlikely to help as well, due to scheduling costs my prior implementations hit).

The way I've structured the systems however enables me to leverage the generic system feature in #BevyEngine #bevy. Adding a new conveyor specialisation is as simple as adding another plugin. So some more optimisations might happen there, after I sort out rendering.
