Rare teacher validation. Student was in my room after school, talking about an assignment. "Miss, you have such high expectations for us. I feel like some of the teachers just don't think we can do anything and give up on us." I'm so sorry, kiddo. But thank you, I needed that.

We've reached the season where I think it's time to go to bed but the clock says 7:26pm.

Thinking about how when COVID arrived, my husband was so irritated because I'd been reading and talking and worrying about pandemics and plagues for decades and he hated that I was right.

Note to self: never again look at responses when the President posts about teachers. Wow wow wow people in this country hate teachers. They have the wildest ideas about what happens in classrooms... Now I'm a little sad and a lot irritated.

Not me telling a 28yo colleague that his is not the first generation to think the world was ending every couple of years. Not him asking me if I was in the Dust Bowl. 🤣 #Touche

Bless anyone trying to teach kids while it looks like the end of the world outside here in NYC. The kids are going bonkers right now.

Turned off the shower to realize my son had taken the towel from the bathroom and I had to dry off my whole body with one small washcloth. Reader, I do not have a 1-washcloth body.

Hi @UFT @NYCSchools! Wondering: will we ever have a calendar for the 2023-2024 school year?

I have never felt more disconnected from the rest of the world than I do right now, facing possible cancer recurrence. I'm trying not to be angry and hateful to the people around me who have No | Fucking | Clue | what this is like.

Here's @nycmayor's plan for getting kids reading-- cut funds to libraries, cut funds to schools. You can't claim to care about children reading and then cut funding to the public institutions that help them to read and access reading materials... It's about actions, not words.
When I was a kid struggling with dyslexia, I prayed every day my teacher wouldn't call on me to read. I'm proud #NYCReads will help our younger generation become confident readers so they have a chance at a better future. https://t.co/RQGB2g4mfU

I just read the term "psychological morbidity" as related to illness/injury and cancer in particular. It resonated like a gong in my head. @ThanksCancer

Have any #Cancer patients changed oncologists during post-treatment follow up years? I've honestly reached the breaking point w/ my gyn onc. Office doesn't return calls, nurses are cold, they failed to put in for insurance pre-approval for urgent PET scan - now that's cancelled.

I told my colleagues that they'll know how my oncology visit goes on Thursday: "I'll either be here Friday morning and all is well, or I won't be here and you can start planning funeral attire." They were not pleased with my tone. 🙃@ThanksCancer

Going in for PET scan and physical exam Thursday to see if this pain I've been experiencing is cancer recurrence. Think good thoughts for me if you have any to spare. @ThanksCancer

3 years out from treatment for cervical cancer (stage 3c1 w/ lymph nodes) & I've had increasingly persistent pelvic pain on lower left for a few weeks. Feels like an ovarian cyst, but haven't had ovaries since surgery. Anxiety: High. Next appt: May 11. 🥴 @ThanksCancer
