Over the holiday break, our ice crew stayed busy making sure the ice is in great shape for the second half of the season.After flooding and plenty of pebbling and scraping the ice is ready to go tomorrow morning.

At the end of the hour session, Glenn promised a visit to Norfolk. Now that he has announced his retirement from competitive curling, we hope that he has some free time to visit us in Connecticut! Perhaps we can entice him with craft beer from @LRBrewers or @NorbrookFarm

Back in February of 2021 and in the midst of a lost curling season due to Covid, our teenage curling program arranged for a virtual chat with Canadian curling star @howardfour Glenn Howard. He was a big hit with the kids and adults alike that evening.

The curling club ice elves were busy yesterday and today scraping, cleaning, and flooding the ice to get ready for the second half of the season. Have a Merry Christmas everyone! 🎄🥌

The power at the curling club was restored shortly before Noon today. There doesn't seem to be any damage to the ice although it got very warm. There will be no curling activities tonight but normal operations will resume tomorrow.

If that is the case, we will lose the ice, possibly for the season. @EversourceCT is doing their best to ship up a generator to the club but it is to be determined if they can install it to run our ice machinery. Fingers crossed and we will give an update later this morning.

It's 2 a.m. and a perfect time to give an update on the curling club and our power situation. We lost power at the club after 8 a.m. yesterday. Due to the amount of snow and heavy tree damage in the area, we were just told it may be another 12-18 hours before power is restored.

This morning, we welcomed @FOX61News and Jim Altman and photographer Sean McKeever. They have been very generous in doing a story for us each season and Jim didn't disappoint and threw several rocks with Steve, Rachel and Jon. Look for the story at 6p and perhaps 10p tonight!

We had a pre-Senior Prom photo shoot at the club today with Norfolk member Rachel and Cape Cod member Nick.

Annual membership meeting in progress tonight at the curling club. What a great season we had!

Today, members got out the squeegees & with 3000 gallons of water & NVFD expertise the houses were hung up & the concrete cleaned off. It only took 1 hour & many thanks to Norfolk FD. Watch this time lapse video & check back soon for news about pickleball starting in a few weeks.
