I will be reviewing apps for the @SouthernMiss Clinical Psych PhD program for Fall 2025! If you’re interesting in how negative emotions “get under our skin” to influence health and how emotion regulation can help buffer against that link.

Congrats to my second year PhD student Cam Robins on his thesis proposal today! Cam has stayed at USM and is working with me remotely to complete this project. He will investigate how childhood environment, time perspective, and a mortality salience prime impact risk-taking 🎉

Some news! Next month, I’ll be joining @UTSA as an Associate Prof and DCT for a *new* clinical psych PhD program being developed between the Psych Dept and the @UTHealthSA School of Medicine! I’ll miss USM a lot, but I’m excited! @UTSAGradSchool @UTSAResearch.

Stephanie surveyed adult substance users about various types of stigma and their help-seeking attitudes and intentions. She is wrapping up internship at Indiana University School of Medicine and will stay on for a postdoc in addictions! 🎉❤️.

This was a collaboration in which we examined the PSCD in a local sample of adolescents in a military-style residential program for youth with above avg rates of behavioral problems. We examined PSCD profiles using LPA and found 4 subtypes that existed across sex & race/ethnicity.

Chloe will be recruiting young adults to complete self-report measures of aggression and related constructs as well as a behavioral paradigm assessing proactive and reactive aggression. She hopes to learn more about subtle indicators that may inform violence risk prediction.
