Proud to finally present this banger! We found synchrotron radiation from two extreme, near-Sun shocks! With @NASA's PSP, we directly measured the relativistic electrons and shock conditions under which such radiation is generated. 1/5

May perhaps be NASA's last great exploratory mission for a long time.
Today is the last contact with Parker Solar Probe before its historic solar flyby on Dec. 24, when it will pass just 3.8 million miles from the Sun: Next contact is Dec. 27, when Parker sends a beacon tone to confirm it’s safe. Here we go! 🛰️ ☀️ .#3point8.

Additionally, I also had a nice time seeing my academic great-grandfather Roald Sagdeev, my academic mentor Volodya, and friends and colleagues and former mentors, Jens, @jmagdalenic and Misha Balikhin - all in the same place at AGU!

What a trip! I visited some long term collaborators and made new collaborations in my recent trip to the US! I gave 6 talks over a period of three weeks. A special thanks to @AstroKoulou @LynntheBruce @CenterForAstro and everyone at APL who I can’t seem to find on here.

Interested in shock waves? I recently gave a talk in the famous high energy astrophysics division of the @CenterForAstro about how we can use @NASA PSP observations of heliospheric travelling shocks to study astrophysical shocks.
