The new Castlevania by Evil Empire looks nuts. They already did an incredible job on Rogue Prince of Persia being inspired by Moebius' art but this is something else. Artistic powerhouse

I believe such price range for many big artists comes from supply vs demand situation. An artist can only draw a certain amount of pictures per month, and some big name artists probably get TONS of comm inquiries daily. + brand recognition also plays a role.
"I like your artstyle, how much for one character?" "$100 for a sketch, $200 for flat colors, $350 for shading"
