Israel's assassination of World Central Kitchen workers was intentional and achieved its objective: WCK pausing operations. All involved in provide aid in Gaza are walking with targets on their backs, as they interfere with the effort to starve the population to death
World Central Kitchen is devastated to confirm seven members of our team have been killed in an IDF strike in Gaza. Read our full statement on the loss of our team members here:
The slogan 'They could have turned Gaza into Singapore' is used by Israel and its supporters to implicitly blame the citizens of Gaza for their own genocide. Let's unpack this statement by asking: Have you ever been to either Gaza or Singapore? A thread 🧵
Israel intentionally destroyed every university in Gaza and has killed 94 university professors, 100s of teachers and 1000s of students. Meanwhile, Israel’s academia supports the war, and expressed no solidary with colleagues in Gaza. A few examples 🧵
Before October 7:
Singapore hasn’t been bombarded countless times in the last 10 years. Gaza did.
Singapore controls its own boarders. Gaza do not.
Singapore hasn’t been under occupation since 1967. Gaza has been under ongoing occupation since 1967 ..3
My son’s public school is holding an Easter Hat Parade on April 7th. It’s during Ramadan and a week before Passover, but none of these holidays, which are part of his identity, are mentioned or celebrated. Tell me more about multicultural Australia
In Singapore you can move freely within the country. Gaza has been under siege for 15 years and, with rare exceptions, couldn’t go in and out of this ‘open air prison’. 40% of the population knows nothing but being denied their right to freedom of movement during their lives ..4
Israel began to restrict movements in and out of Gaza in the 1990s, before Hamas won the election or the Oslo process.
Singapore controls its own population registry. Gaza does not...5
For 4 months, Israel has used the term 'safe zone' as both a military tactic and a legal pretext to conceal its genocidal activities. The directive instructs people in Gaza to relocate south, ostensibly promoting 'voluntary' migration while claiming compliance with intl law 🧵
Singapore has an airport. Israel destroyed the radar station and control tower of Gaza airport on 4/12/2001 and the runway on 10/1/2002.
Singapore has a seaport. Gaza does not, and Israel effectively control Gaza’s territorial and economical water with its war ships...7
Israel sees any Palestinian who lives in the West Bank, but who is listed as “a Gazan”, under the population registry that it controls, is illegal and can be deported. And can’t go in and out of the West Bank...6
Singapore controls its electromagnetic spectrum. Israel controls Palestinian electromagnetic spectrum, including in Gaza, and can shut it down whenever it wants. It has done so rapidly, living citizens with no cellular or internet connection, let alone land line. END
Singapore controls its own import and export, its tax policies, and economic activities. Its businesspeople are free to decide how, when and with whom to trade. In Gaza, economic activity with the outside world is subject to Israel’s sanctions...8
Singapore controls its own electricity greed. In Gaza, Israel can remotely disconnect the power, and has been doing so rapidly since 2007. Israel also controls fuel import, and has bombarded a number of times the power planet and solar panels... 9
Singapore's tap water quality is considered according to WHO Guidelines as suitable for drinking directly from the tap without any further filtration. In Gaza, prior to 7/10, 97% of the water was contaminated, slowly poisoning the population...11
Even before 7/10, people in Gaza had 4-6 hours of electricity a day. Try to run a household, a business or a school without frequent and reliable electricity. Also – no electricity means no functioning water or sewage system. In Singapore, these are not every day scenarios...10
The president of Tel Aviv University, and former Law Dean, tries to salvage the image of Israeli academia. In an appalling Op-Ed he asks “difficult questions” such as: is there a humanitarian crisis in Gaza, and whether there is a moral or legal justification to create one../1
The tactic of labelling organisations as 'terror organisations' isn’t new. 2 yrs ago Israel used it against 6 human rights org at the West Bank and demanded that the EU and others stop funding them. This call was rejected as no evidence were provided.
In 2018, Netanyahu was explicit about Israel’s motivations: “This is an organization that perpetuates the problem of Palestinian refugees, it also perpetuates the narrative of the right of return”. /5
In 2016, a right wing thing tank 'Kohelet' published a “position paper” that labels UNRWA as an organisation that aids terror and therefore it should be eliminated and its workers should be prosecuted
Thousands are marching in Sydney, unmasked. When BLM protesters asked to do the same last year, politicians and the police have tried to stop them, labelling the event as “super spreader”. And today? silence. The difference? Look who’s marching (pic from the Guardian)
Since October 23’, Israel has incrementally designated areas in Gaza, starting from the northern parts of the strip, progressing to the middle, then South Gaza, and now Rafah, as a 'safe zone.' The message is clear: either move south or face the risk of death. /3
4 months in, it is clear that these zones neither provide safety nor protect children, women, and men from being massacred, whether on the move to a 'safe zone' or while staying there. /4
In the next phase, many of them will be targeted and killed, pushed to the Egyptian side of the border, or remain displaced for months and years. They have nowhere to go, as Israel has destroyed around 70% of homes in Gaza /6
This is not a coincidence, but the intent from day one: to replicate 1948 Nakba and to end the war with as few Palestinians as possible while controlling as much land as possible. END
Currently, over 1 million people are concentrated in camps around Rafah, an area of approximately 151km², roughly the size of Hyde Park in London. They live in tents without basic services, health care access to clean water, or food. Many starve to death. /5
Hebrew University, Law: “Dear students, army reservists, As we open the new academic year while the war is still going on, and as some of you are still in active duty, we would like to express our great appreciation for your courage and sacrifice for the State of Israel….”
The Hebrew University main webpage: “The Hebrew University community is mobilizing for the national effort as part of the 'Iron Swords' war and is running many initiatives to help the community listed below. Our strength is in our unity, mutual guarantee and social solidarity!”
Tel Aviv University’s main webpage: Supporting soldiers, helping them to "fulfil their calling" and offer financial support, as well as a range of other dedicated services
Reichman University: the slogan “Together we Will Win” at the main webpage, and a link to a dedicated webpage for "the rights of students serving in the army”
Haifa University, Faculty of Law: "The Faculty of Law welcomes everyone and wishes you a safe and successful academic year. The Faculty family nourishes our dear warriors and Israeli society as a whole. United and strong we will win"
800 Israeli academics call to “stop the starvation in Gaza”. It starts with blaming Hamas for violating moral principles and intl law, but not a single word about the illegality of Israel’s actions, or that it massacred 30k people. A petition that legitimises a genocide
Israel marks a Holocaust memorial day by gearing up for the next stage of its genocide against Palestinians: a Rafah "operation". It is instructing residents to evacuate but there are no safe routes or zones, and all its previous promises for safety were proven to be false
Israel's compliance with the ICJ ruling: a map presented on Sunday, Jan 28, at a conference calling for the establishment of new settlements all over Gaza Strip. Government ministers support this conference, and mainstream news sites livestream it.
The 30,000 deaths in Gaza, the intentional targeting of the health sector or academia and academics are nowhere to be found in this piece. While Tel Aviv University celebrates students who serve in the army. BDS NOW. EDS
Tel Aviv University celebrates genocide committed by its students, offering extra funding for them. VP/EDI, a renowned feminist scholar, praises females war criminals, aka students, in the face of killing, starvation and dehumanisation that affects women in multiply ways. BDS now
This child 👇 isn't part of any statistic. He is neither dead nor physically injured. Yet, the trauma he had experienced and the trauma of the ~1.2 million children in Gaza will never disappear. All of them are victims of this genocide
I'm in Gaza with my charity
@INARAorg
. As we were leaving one cluster of tents a woman came up and said “My son keeps screaming and shaking uncontrollably. It started when he saw his sister’s head blown off”.
A “critical” legal scholar tries to undermine the gravity of Israel’s genocide and the case brought to the ICJ by claiming that SA took the “easy” step by invoking the genocide convention using the jurisdiction clause, instead of making a more substantial claim of war crimes ../2
The piece begins with saying that this “war" is justified, adding that “some have thought that creating a humanitarian crisis is justified”. It ends with a question about the harm to Israel’s public opinion, and that he doesn’t accuse the government in creating this crisis../2
This position paper was distributed on Friday by one of Israel’s newspapers: “Voluntary migration: An essential component in the humanitarian rehabilitation of Gaza's displaced persons”. While the ICJ ordered to prevent and punish the direct and public incitement to genocide
NSW reported 19,060 new cases today. Children under-10 account for 2441 cases, and 10-19 for 4160. This is 6601, or 34% of the total cases, while this age group account for 25.3% of the population. Massive overrepresentation. Face mask must be brought back, especially in schools
Tel Aviv University celebrates genocide committed by its students, offering extra funding for them. VP/EDI, a renowned feminist scholar, praises females war criminals, aka students, in the face of killing, starvation and dehumanisation that affects women in multiply ways. BDS now
Israel has been preventing Palestinians to get treatment for decades, creating dependency on "humanitarian gestures". 18 yrs ago I represented a baby with cancer from Gaza who was classified as a 'security threat' and therefore denied chemotherapy
No more universities left in Gaza. Students and faculty and murdered daily. Meanwhile, Israeli academia, including world ranking universities, offer extra support to soldiers. Consider this next time that you are approached to express solidarity and answer the call for BDS
The last remaining universities in the Gaza (located in the center) was blown up by Israeli army.
Tell us this is not a genocide?
This is colonialist Israel, that colonialist west supports. These are their values, destruction and annihilation.
This is how the co-convenor of the International Law forum at the Faculty of Law, Hebrew University, treats and talks to a UN Special Rapporteur: throwing accusations, mocking her and adds a dash of chauvinism. This is the face of Israeli legal academia.
The UN Committee on the Rights of the Child issues an unprecedented statement, using bold and clear language: “Children in Gaza can no longer wait, as each passing minute risks another child dying of hunger as the world looks on” and calling for an immediate ceasefire.
The UN Committee on the Rights of the Child
#UNCRC
delivers its strongest statement. Gaza: Halt the war now to save children from dying of imminent famine.

@lexpsy
and finally, concluding that any decision won’t change things on the ground. He should tell that to his students, currently participating in massacring babies either directly or by providing legal cover up for these crimes. One can only hope they’ll be indicted at the Hauge.
Intergenerational genocide: 5400 women in Gaza are expected to give birth in the coming month. Most have experienced undernutrition for five months, got little, if any, medical supervision during traumatic pregnancy, and had limited access to medication../2
As if Genocide isn’t bad enough. He then echoes Israel’s usual line of propaganda, arguing that the ICJ has a low bar of hearing cases under the Genocide convention, inexplicably claiming that one shouldn’t take this “biased “ court seriously ../3
How racist can someone be to steal toys belonging to displaced or, most likely, murdered children, and then pose for a picture? One of them, as his uniform shows, is a medic who took an oath to treat anyone, unless he considers them to be subhuman or less than human
Israeli soldiers are posting images of themselves stealing toys from displaced Palestinian children houses and fastening them to their military vehicles in Gaza.
Israel's campaign against Palestinian faculty, academics, students and the higher education sector has reached a new low. But it is certainly not a new one. A few examples, all policies that the Court refused to declare them to be illegal 🧵
4 points about the ICJ provisional measures against Israel based on the Genocide Convention
1. Factual background: The factual background heavily relies on evidence from UN agencies and statements of UN officials, including the Secretary General../2
Shooting and crying, as always. The protocols were created to legalise the illegal (and a moral): genocide. 30,000 death are not the results of broken protocols nor the behaviour of “rotten apples”
While millions in Gaza suffer from starvation due to seize intentionally imposed by Israel, Haaretz daily publishes a dystopian piece detailing the meals and cooking routines of soldiers involved in genocide: "the better we ate - the better we fought" 🧵
In three weeks, Israel has shift its propaganda from “we don’t target hospitals” to “we’re not going to attack any hospital” to “We’re invading a hospital, who’s bleeding patients, and are proud of it”. Ceasefires now.
"Given the level of destruction (to the public health system) we're talking about a recovery period of 2-3 decades" The death toll of this genocide will continue to well into 2050s. An intergenerational destruction as a result of a calculated attack on the health care sector.
"I have never experienced anything like I experienced in Gaza..."
This doctor spent two weeks over Christmas working in the European Hospital in Khan Younis with the charity IDEALS, helping treat people with severely traumatic wounds.
This is what Andy Ferguson saw.
Dear students and colleagues: the pandemic isn't over, NSW sees 10k+ cases per day and I'm doing my best to protect my family and myself, so please try not to mock me for wearing a mask on campus. Thank you

Heads of all Israeli universities express “concern” over the pro Palestinian demonstrations at 🇺🇸 campuses, condemning “violence” and “antisemitism”, claiming that it’s done with support of “terror organisations”. Let them know that u see their role in genocide and support BDS
Some good news for children, and society in large: Australian Capital Territory votes to raise age of criminal responsibility from 10 to 14. A long way to go in fixing a broken, and overly punitive, child justice system

The blood of these children, and all the other 10,000 dead children, is on the hands of those who support this war, stay silent or think that it’s complicated. Explain this complexity to all these children, and any other child who grows up in a world that allows this to happen
The intl law unit at the Israeli army has been expanded to become a brigade. Preparing to deal with the expected influx of indictments, once journalists and NGOs can enter Gaza and document the horrors of Israel's war crimes. The legal establishment is a key enabler of genocide
In 70 days, Israel turned Gaza from being the world’s largest open-air prison to a concentration camp, and now an extermination camp.
#NeverAgain
means never again for everyone.
The self praising "only democracy in the middle east" limits the right to worship of its own citizens. It also destroyed ~400 mosques in Gaza and after decades of denying the right to visit Al-Aqsa from Palestinians at the WB and Gaza, or worshippers from other countries
This data is horrifying, and again suggests and reinforces that this is a war against children with a genocidal intent: eliminating current and future Palestinians in Gaza
MEDIA RELEASE: Over 2% of Gaza’s child population have been killed or injured in six months of a war which has decimated the health system and severed access to education, said Save the Children.
Israeli police interrogated Prof Shalhoub-Kevorkian about her academic publications. The academic establishment is, by and large, silent. After vilifying her and her work, and suspending her for speaking her mind. BDS now

Imagine the reaction if a neo-nazi crowd would have march the streets of a predominately Jewish neighbourhood of a European city, shouting ‘death to Jews’ and attacking Jews with the backup of police & the state. This is Jerusalem’s Old City yesterday👇

UN special rapporteur on the right to food Michael Fakhri

says denial of food by Israel is war crime and constitutes ‘a situation of genocide'. Israel's intentional starvation policy didn't start today, nor in October.. /2

: not all Australian celebrate Christmas. Your failures meant that Muslim Australian celebrated the Eid in July in lockdown and that Jewish Australian will celebrate the high Holidays in Sep in lockdown too, without their families.
Israel has killed over 13,000 children in Gaza, out of 30,000 massacred Palestinians, since Oct. This makes children 43% of the total number of victims, while children make 47% of Gaza's population. This is a Genocide, and not a lawful, "proportionate", war as Israel claims

They recommend dismissing certain "rogue" politicians and having the police investigate calls to commit international crimes. This is putting lipstick on a pig. There has been little, if any, calls to stop genocide; to stop the mass killing and destruction. END
2. Translation of Genocidal Calls. Many genocidal statements made by Israeli ministers, members of Parliament, the President, journalists, and others were in Hebrew. It is crucial to continue translating them and ensuring they receive the attention they deserve../4
It underscores the importance of these agencies, the significance of advocacy, and the need for holding these bodies accountable. It explains why Israel refuses to cooperate , and actively disrupting their work, such as denying entry visas and implementing other measures../3
Today at 11:30 I and 15 other children from around the world filed a legal complaint against 5 nations over the climate crisis through the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
These 5 nations are the largest emitters that have ratified the convention.
The war on children escalates: new data shows that 31%, or 1 in 3 children under 2 years of age, in the Northern Gaza Strip suffer from acute malnutrition, a staggering escalation from 15.6% in January.
Gaza has been under Israeli siege for over 15 years. 90% of the population are now facing “acute food insecurity”, condition intentionally created by Israel. Israel also enables a minimal and insufficient food aid to enter Gaza, only to use this as an argument at the ICJ.
A huge spike in hospitalisation of children under 5 in England. What’s the national plan in Australia for protecting primary schoolers and under 5, ahead of the new school year? Protecting children’s life and health is state#’s duty under

Call for submissions: Day of General Discussion of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child: "Children’s Rights and Alternative Care" 16-17 September 2021. Deadline 14 June 2021. More details here:
A war on children and future generations: a child is killed every 15 min. 10% of children killed in Gaza didnt make their 1st birthday. More than 1,000 children have lost one or both legs. Those having limbs amputated are having it done without anaesthetic
Urgent Appeal to Protect Palestinian Children’s Future: The wars in Gaza and the West Bank are having a catastrophic effect on Palestinian children's ability to learn, now and in the future. The Education Cluster call for immediate actions to protect children's right to learn

1 in 500 children in 🇺🇸 became Covid orphaned. The evolution of Covid from being an illness of the elderly, to Delta variant attacking the youth to this inter generational impact shows, once again, that policy shouldn’t be developed without centring children’s right and interests
This assumption is rooted in decades of legality-washing: the facade of a functioning judiciary that upholds international law norms, a professional civil service, and the reputation of legal academia. However, as Palestinian scholars, NGOs, and others have demonstrated.../6
