Insane that an economics professor would claim “technologies can’t eliminate poverty.” The Green Revolution was all about technology: - high-yielding variety seeds - chemical fertilizers - pesticides & herbicides - mechanization - irrigation techniques This is basic history.

Working title “Secrets of a Gene Body”: In our latest preprint we provide evidence for largely cell-autonomous (sic) action of the brassinosteroid receptor BRI1, which is necessary across multiple tissues to drive root growth. https://t.co/vYfnghtzVi

Finally online! First paper from lab! I’m so happy this work found a great home @embojournal read all about how a root barrier does more than just selection! It also signals to the shoot! - a feature thats hidden until you put it plants on a “real” soil https://t.co/bgsWd1Yj4M

Great story from the Brady lab! We have learned that root barriers and root cellular anatomy are functionally important and surprisingly plastic - turns out that bacteria knew it all along and profoundly affect aerenchyma formation and suberisation in Sorghum upon colonization!
I am really proud to share our study on microbes, Striga and sorghum is now online in Cell Reports! https://t.co/STOgy4iUqT and the press release is here: https://t.co/HD1osRYKdW This was an epic effort led by the incredible @dorota_kawa and many more + @HarroBouwmeest1
