I know it sounds like I'm being simplistic, but it genuinely doesn't get more complicated than that. A stock is an intangible asset, and having $100k in stocks =/= having $100k in cash.

There's this thing I do to deal with anxiety where I make myself accept that the killer *is* outside the window, and they *are* going to get me, but dammit I am not dying tired. It genuinely helps me sleep. This feels like the same thing. World is ending. But not w/o tomatoes.
As many, many people have said before, it is so weird to stand on this precipice, looking down at Real Bad Shit Coming, and yet of necessity be so mired in the everyday struggle that you still have to do stuff like eat and make wordcount and stake the tomatoes.
