CA Prop 1 has lots of problems, but it passed. Whether that's for good or bad now comes down to implementation. In @latimes, I argue that simply adding $$ and beds is not a real plan. Poorly delivered care can backfire. So how do we get this right? 🧵 https://t.co/YE3mNUYvjr

Gov. Newsom touts the $6.4-billion measure as a way to curb homelessness and mental health concerns. But the state's plan on how to do this isn't clear.

thanks @PeterMoskos for this chat on public order, harm reduction, & making our social control institutions better. Plus a plug for ethnography: nothing gets us beyond our ideological comfort zone and theoretical priors like fieldwork
I have a new podcast episode! (Yeah, it's been a while.) Because I read a really great book. So I reached out to the author. And here we are chatting for an hour like smart people. Ain't podcasts great? It's not about policing. It is police adjacent. https://t.co/W47jq9RC2X

This is the same ridiculous and disingenous reporting tactic used after homeless encampment sweeps. The solidarity encampment was clean, super organized, and provided access to university buildings. The Administration shut down these buildings and the police trashed this camp.
CAMPUS 'TRASHED': Garbage, tents, water and old food were seen littered in UCLA's quad area as KTLA's Annie Rose Ramos made her way to Royce Hall, which was also vandalized with spray paint and messages such as “from the river to the sea” and “Free Palestine.” Watch Annie's
