I think that the Sonic Frontiers concept art is the perfect middle ground to where they can please both US and JP fans in terms of graphics.
Being realistic with a pinch of that Sonic fantasicm.
They knew that western fans would want the environment that would look like normal sonic athletics like older titles VS JP fans who didn't mind the serious and realistic look and they have never reworked the game so many times depending on the reaction of the playtesters before

One thing that I don't think Sonic Frontiers is getting praise enough is its cinematography and directory of cutscenes.
While it's not up to the AAA standards, I think that for Sonic, this is the best that it has been since forever, and I hope that it gets expanded upon.
The way that Frontiers Sonic gives me such a good first impression when shit goes down is that despite Sonic being in a strange place & having a suspicious voice telling him what to do, which he has no clue about. He is so impatient & just wants to get on rescuing his friends +
