Finally some #drought relief for #Nebraska. Categorical improvements for much of state thanks to several inches of rain/melted snow over past week. Helpful to make a dent in dry soil profiles, give fire managers a break. Short-term outlook hopefully more of the same wet pattern.

Be #weatherwise today. Red flag warning in place impacting #Nebraska. Widespread dry conditions, lack of snow cover, strong northwesterly winds and low humidity are ingredients for high fire danger. Winds will kick up by mid-day. Counties in pink currently in red flag warning.

The latest US Drought Monitor has 38% of #Nebraska in moderate or worse conditions. 54% abnormally dry. We've seen worsening for central, east past 4 weeks, some improvement in Panhandle. Winter is our dry time of year and big changes aren't expected. Come on spring rains. #newx

Who is that new dot on the #NebraskaMesonet map you say? Why, it is Wilber 1W, our newest station. A full tower thanks to the generous support of @croptechcafe of @UNLExtension at @UNLincoln. And it looks quite nice with the backdrop of a mackerel winter sky. #newx @NWSOmaha
