Hey #chemtwitter, does anyone know where to find a good model/file for 3D printing a nanocrystal? Would love to print one for my desk!

I've been a longtime user of Origin for plotting my data, but I'm wondering what #chemtwitter likes to use? MATLAB? Igor? Python? R?

A new student who works with nanopipettes has really bad eyesight and was having trouble filling the small devices with fluids. My other student 3D printed a funnel as a X’mas present to help her 👏😭 Innovation at its finest with kindness, I’m so proud.

Totally forgot to mention that this was done in collaboration with the amazing Korgel group (@brian_korgel @KorgelTweets) who synthesized the nanocrystals!

Good morning twitter! I'm excited to share my newest paper from @NUChemistry in @acsnano about how synthesizing CuInSe2 nanocrystals with different ligands drastically affects their composition and photophysics!
pubs.acs.org
CuInSe2 nanocrystals exhibit tunable near-infrared bandgaps that bolster utility in photovoltaic applications as well as offer potential as substitutes for more toxic Cd- and Pb-based semiconductor...

In this Perspective we look at some of the history of SCRPs, from photosynthetic bacteria and CIDNP/CIDEP to their use as molecular qubits. Introduction to some of the theory, quantum teleportation, SCRPs in DNA, and much more! (2/2)

Hey everyone, Prof. Mike Wasielewski and I's JACS Perspective just came out! If you want to learn about photogenerated spin-correlated radical pairs (SCRPs) then look no further. @J_A_C_S @CMQTnu (1/2) https://t.co/Yn9gCBr6SU

More than a half century ago, the NMR spectra of diamagnetic products resulting from radical pair reactions were observed to have strongly enhanced absorptive and emissive resonances. At the same...

Hey twitter! I'm defending my Ph.D. in Chemistry this week! 🤯😎👩🔬(Thursday at 1 pm CT to be exact). I don't know as many of you on here, but if anyone is interested in attending virtually, message me and I'll send you a zoom link.

Wow! Walking up to so many responses is amazing! These ligands were not native during synthesis, but were exchanged afterwards. The NC is fairly large due to the shell (~7.7 nm diameter). 90 eq. of ligand was added though so I expect a fair amount on the surface.

Okay nanocrystal community, I have a question/debate. Do you think this ligand would be bent over (closer to the surface) or forced more upright? The QDs are CdSe/CdS. This ligand and QD were used previously: https://t.co/WgSXvfHJ76 but I'm using them again. Excuse my ugly pic.

Hey #chemtwitter, how do you stay motivated when you are nearing the end of a paper and are getting tired of editing your own work again and again?

We as a nanocrystal community really need to clarify whether we mean 'diameter' or 'radius' when we are talking about the size of a nanocrystal or labeling a figure. I am not going to remeasure your TEM images.😂

Another shameless promotion since Laura isn't on Twitter, this time focused on research from the Wasielewski group @NUChemistry in @JPhysChem. This work focused on the effects that having two identical acceptors has on charge and spin dynamics.

The worst part is, I want to make it 50/50. I'm a woman in science and I want to boost other women. So I'll keep looking, I'm determined. I know how important representation is. I'm reminded of when I went to MRS in 2019 and was often saddened by the lack of women at the talks.

A short sad tale: Oh I see that @nanoGe_Conf is calling for new symposia, I should make one! They say that the percentage of female speakers should be at least 20%, that shouldn't be hard Nine speakers added to the list and I haven't found one woman scientist to add Unacceptable

I'm excited to promote my recent @acsnano paper for the first time on Twitter! Using some lovely CuInSe2 nanocrystals from @brian_korgel's group and intense X-rays at @argonne. Looked at melting, heat dissipation, and ligand effects. https://t.co/BNII3NVLYd
