Leader of Bolton Conservatives on @BoltonCouncil. Councillor for #BromleyCross.
Bolton, United Kingdom
Joined January 2009
Pleased to have played a very small part in the campaign on a very rainy day. Wishing Dr Kaushik Chakraborty all the best with his term of office!
š„³ Huge congratulations to Dr Kaushik Chakraborty - our new @Conservatives Councillor for Broadheath, after winning the seat from Labour. You smashed it! Really enjoyed knocking on doors with you.

Questions are mounting up. Starmer and his ministers are constantly being contradicted. His failed attempts to grow our economy have forced him to go to Beijing with a begging bowl. That means he wonāt do anything to risk that relationship, even if it means risking our security.

With pubs struggling to survive, I find it difficult to understand how any politician can vote against increasing business rate relief. And yet, thatās what Bolton Labour did. Shocking.
More unemployment. Fewer pubs. This is Bolton under Labour. Cllr Les Webb tells the Council how pubs he has spoken to will be affected by Labourās reduction in hospitality relief and national insurance increases.

Proof that taking the time to craft policy, and not announcements, is starting to pay dividends. The policy detailed over Conference is serious and credible. Unlike other parties, who see their policies picked apart in a matter of hours, experts are already endorsing our plans.

This morning I explained why our announcements at this party conference are about tackling the challenges facing our country, with commonsense solutions and proper plans. Stronger borders and a stronger economy. That is what a Conservative government led by meĀ willĀ deliver.

š£ Tomorrow at #CPC25 in Manchester, our fringe event with @CentreforCities will discuss the power of transport devolution. Great to have such a top panel of speakers, inc @AndrewCities, @DameSarahStorey, @NadimMuslim and Iain Stewart, former chair of the Transport Committee.

A clear direction with a proper plan. Itās becoming evident that others are making announcements with no plan and suddenly finding them being picked apart within days, sometimes hours. @KemiBadenoch and the @Conservatives are offering the only credible alternative.

Terrorism has no place on our streets. We stand with the Jewish community of Bolton and Greater Manchester who are affected.
This was a vile and disgusting attack on a synagogue in Manchester. On Yom Kippur ā the holiest day of the Jewish year ā families gathered in prayer were targets for violence. My heart goes out to all those hurt and affected. I know many in our Jewish community will feel shaken.

Designating the land as a Village Green could offer further protection. Our initial understanding is that this may not be possible. But, further research means it could be viable. This option is still being explored by the Dunscar Residents Association and we would support it.

As your local councillors, Cllr Amy Cowen, Cllr Samantha Connor, and I are committed to securing the future of this land as an open green space for everyone. We are not Bolton Council but your representatives to the Council.

This field is currently listed as Green Belt but the developer is looking to use changes to the NPPF, brought in by the Government, to designate this land as āGrey Belt.ā But for anyone there today, it was clear this land is and should remain as Green Belt.

Thank you to everyone who joined us at Tongfields today as we stood together as a community against Oakmere Homesās proposals to build 100 houses on this land. It was so pleasing to see so many people join us at short notice.

This. Iāve said it before, until politicians start a serious conversation with the public about how much of their money do they want to give us to spend, we wonāt get anywhere.
I believe the people should be able to keep as much as possible of what they earn, not have it eaten away by ever-increasing taxes and spiralling inflation. That will mean we have to cut government spending. We must be honest about what the Government can and cannot do.

Not surprised Trump was so emphatic. Itās all we spoke about last night. We have to get our oil and gas out of the North Sea. I'm serious about energy security cutting energy bills. We have to make the most of our natural resources. Itās mad to leave billions of Ā£ in there.

We made multiple changes in government to tighten this up. As a Home Office minister I led on much of this in Parliament. I and my colleagues faced barrages of sneering and abuse from Cooper, Phillips and other Labour front benchers. Accusing me of letting down vulnerable people
NEW: Home sec Shabana Mahmood is reviewing modern slavery laws for risk to misuse, after courts stopped deportations on one-in-one-out scheme. āMigrants suddenly deciding they are a modern slave on the eve of their removal, having never made such a claim before, make a mockery

Instructing Bolton Council to take proactive action to prevent migrant hotels opening in Bolton isnāt controversial, itās common sense. Thatās why itās so disappointing that both Labour and the Lib Dems decided to block that action. Why canāt they stand up to their own parties?
We will always put Bolton first, even if that means being at odds with our own party nationally. But Labour doesnāt have the backbone. Thatās why they voted to block Bolton Council taking proactive action to prevent migrant hotels being opened in our borough.

Thereās always a tweet. Starmer made out he was above it all but turns out heās in fact worse with his deception and arrogance.
If the PM really believes in accountability, he would stop hiding, face Parliament, publish the Mandelson/Epstein files and tell the truth about what he and his Chief of Staff knew and when. Itās time to deliver the ātransparency revolutionā he promised. No more excuses.
