After being delayed by the government shutdown, FV3-GFS is now tentatively scheduled to go operational on Mar 20, pending successful completion of the 30-day technical test.

Couldn't agree more! Wx community needs to bring #FV3GFS forecasts into the #Florence conversation, as this global model will likely replace current #GFS early next year. Here is the @NWSEMC comparison link @pppapin shared in his thread, for reference:
A lot have focused on the #Florence model battle b/w the ECMWF & GFS, but maybe the more important battle is to see how the new #FV3 performs vs. the #GFS. 06z runs were interesting because the #FV3 is weaker & further west compared to the op #GFS. FV3 is similar to the ECMWF.

The experimental FV3-GFS will not be available in real-time between 12z Jun 12 and 12z Jun 13 due to a computer outage. Missed cycles will be made up after the outage.
