We're leaving this platform after the actions of the owner demonstrated a clear conflict with our values. And what took us so long, really. This is not a hair flip. It's a notice to our followers that you can find us on the š¦ app at the same username.

This is concerning. There are already other indications that this breach was not limited to @CBVRCE_NS. If you have info, this account will protect your privacy.
Weāve been advised thereās been a recent frantic effort to remove Social Insurance Numbers & other private info from PowerSchool by leadership of all Regional Centres for Education in Nova Scotia. We need more information. Send us a DM or email educationtransparency@proton.me

This election campaign has a shocking lack of focus on education despite there being numerous pressing issues: violence in schools, air quality, poverty, and staff recruitment and retention. It's almost like we forget that kids are people who also need services.

Isn't it just a simple report in PowerSchool? Records are electronic, so how is this even a barrier?
.@HRCE_NS spokesperson could not confirm how many students are currently enrolled, how many registered throughout the summer, or how many new teachers the West Bedford schools hired since the beginning of the school year. Could not? My moneyās on WOULD not. Of course they could.

Iām shocked I actually got a response, but just as I suspected, @HRCE_NS @nseducation doesnāt have a plan to keep kids (and staff) safe.

I dont suppose anyone in @nsgov cares to answer.
That is a question which deserves a direct, non-evasive answer. If federal money got laundered through NS General Revenues, how much was spent on what it was intended for: making the air in schoolrooms safe for children & staff?

The feds gave out millions to provinces to improve ventilation. Where did that money go? Do schools have safer air now? Fans don't effectively cool in extreme heat, and this is part of a larger air quality issue.
cbc.ca
A new study has found exactly how inefficient electric fans are when used to keep us cool in extreme heat.Ā

And apparently teachers will once again dig into their own pockets to fix the problem. I'd ask if this is a joke, but since the OAG report also mentions OHS violations, it's not funny. It's more evidence of their blatant dereliction of duty.

Parents can make their own decisions about what is safest for their kids but need proper communication from government & health experts. @nseducation needs to invest in making schools safe. Here's info from @GovCanHealth so you can prepare (PDF download). https://t.co/dak7C0zeGo

This is what passes for mitigating dangerously high temps in NS schools? Our buildings weren't constructed for record-breaking temps & children are at high risk of heat-related illness/injury. It's well past time for a strategy to keep kids & staff safe in a climate crisis!

Hey, @nseducation. Why are parents finding out in drips and drabs about students not being required to attend school on June 21st? High schools moving exams, some students told no school, others told yes, still more told nothing. Is Indigenous Peoples Day a holiday or not?

The kids are not alright. With four in custody for a murder, a school operating under barricade, and 12 schools facing bomb threats, I think we can agree there are problems. But what solutions exist in schools? What do you think the response needs to be? What's your solution?

ICYMI. If @nsgov could spare some of their laser focus on virtual doctors working for private companies, we'd like them to join us in supporting @NSTeachersUnion members and properly fund the education our children need and deserve. Make a real offer @nseducation.

.@BeckyDruhan speaks to staff across the province, who are first warned not to bring up anything controversial or challenging to government programs. How honest do you think conversations with @NSTeachersUnion members actually are?

At about the 12-minute mark, listen to our thoughts on how @nseducation and RCEs are either underreporting or hiding the level of violence in schools. Parents know, and we are FED UP with crisis management. Transparency and proactive solutions now! https://t.co/6vjI5Us16i

At what point will @nseducation and RCEs/CSAP acknowledge that we have dangerous (potentially lethal) incidents happening regularly? Virtually everyone in each building has the ability to broadcast the truth live. The attempts to downplay and hide the truth only breed mistrust.
