Shout out to the ancestors today! And to my 3rd great grandfather, who I discovered recently, fought in the Civil War, on the Union side. He died a couple months after what we now know as Juneteenth. Literally fighting for his and our freedom. Making a way out of no way ✊🏽🙏🏽💚

My grandmothers baptism was similar to this, maybe a decade or so later. She was baptized in a creek in Alabama. I remember her describing how moving it was, she was in a white gown her Grandmother, Mamma, made for her.
Black Americans in a long procession to attend and participate in the baptism in 1920s Oklahoma.

Death Becomes Her is such a fun and good musical! Literally one of the best I’ve seen. Michelle Williams is not the greatest match for her character but we love her, and she’s kinda churchy in this, which is funny. The show is campy so it still kinda works! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!👍🏽
