The biggest problem with the Jurassic Park novel is that there are scenes that aren't Muldoon.
I'm a chunk of the way into the Jurassic Park novel (they've just seen velociraptors for the first time) and I've got to admire how well Spielberg and David Koepp streamlined this incredibly flabby first act. Crichton writes like somebody desperate to show off all his research.

Jesus loves you. But he thinks your essay sucks.

I know this site is mainly used to debate the finer points of computer generated metalcore and to invent brand new forms of racism, but it seems worth mentioning that In the Earth Again is one month old today. Listen to it now if you haven't

Will always repost this because ever since I first saw it years ago, "crushing turts" has become a permanent part of my lexicon.
you have to read this shit it's so funny they're acting like she was failed out of her class just for being christian or whatever but the actual essay (650 words btw lmao) reads like the unironic equivalent of the stomping turts perchance mario essay

"Um, actually, that is not a logline it's a premise"

I'm sorry, but I thought the purpose of a logline was to get people interested in your script, not a homework exercise.

It's a personal gripe, I know. But they offer nothing except showing that you know how to write a logline. None of them ever tell you what the story is *about*. I've posted loglines that contain the central dramatic question, the theme, the tone and they all get ripped to pieces

"When (inciting incident) occurs, (adjective, protagonist) must (genre trope) before (something bad) happens." Oh wow! I'm inspired! I need to see that! *grumbles*

I think I hate loglines. That isn't to say I'm bad at writing them. I just hate what they are and everything they stand for. What an uninteresting, vapid, obnoxious form of conveying a story idea.
