As immigration agents ramp up violence in Chicago and across the U.S., immigrants (and other POC) are suffering. Targeting one community is a gateway to oppressing others. We are only as free as the most subjugated among us.

Hi, this is Meg Barnette, Brad's wife. While escorting a defendant out of immigration court at 26 Federal Plaza, Brad was taken by masked agents and detained by ICE. This is still developing, and our team is monitoring the situation closely.

Recommend reading @the_ILRC toolkit on expanded expedited removal. "Immigration officers usually do not tell someone that they are being placed in the expedited removal process, so it can be difficult to know for sure" Has sections on when to stay silent vs not if stopped by ICE

We strongly denounce the recent comments made by the Texas Department of Public Safety director, referring to undocumented immigrants as "cockroaches." This kind of dehumanizing language only serves to justify and incite abuse and violence against people in vulnerable situations.

Texas Department of Public Safety Director Steve McCraw doubles down on referring to undocumented immigrants as "cockroaches" that are part of an "infestation": "Texas is not going to allow any part of this state to be infested with that type of disease."

The Fifth Circuit of Appeals has ruled the maiming buoys along the Rio Grande can stay – what does this signal for the future? 🤔 Immigration is an international occurrence. This means global impacts, be they economic, or environmental, are a DIRECT cause for migration. 🧵

He pushed for laws to give migrants a lawful, orderly and safe path to the U.S. When Congress refused to act, he did what he could to help the most desperate and vulnerable, saving the lives of countless migrants. He helped us to live up to our values. https://t.co/b3WXcMvqUO

We celebrate the Biden Administration extending and redesignating TPS for Haiti. This step is crucial in providing relief and security to Haitian communities, especially those seeking refuge in the US from the dire situation in Haiti, recently exacerbated by natural disasters ->

We applaud the introduction of the "Chance to Come Home" resolution by Reps. Cleaver (D-MO), Espaillat (D-NY) & Trone (D-MD), along with Sen. Booker (D-NJ) & backed by @NIJC . Family separation policies impose irreparable injustices and harms on families. https://t.co/A82KyvqESX
