On this date 70 years ago, the section of the Turnpike between Bordentown and Woodbridge opened to traffic. That was the second section of the Turnpike to open. The southern 53 miles - between the Delaware Memorial Bridge and Bordentown - had opened earlier in the month.

Only one northbound lane remains closed due to flooding near Int. 12. All southbound lanes have reopened. However, there is so much flooding throughout NJ that motorists are strongly advised to stay off the roads this morning
The Molly Pitcher Service Area reopened today after being closed 10 months for extensive renovations. Food includes Shake Shack, Panda Express, Subway, and Starbucks. This makes 8 of 12 Turnpike service area facilities to have been replaced or significantly rehabbed since 2015.
The newly renovated Woodrow Wilson Service Area just reopened for business. It had been closed since last fall for construction. Wilson is on the northbound side of the Turnpike between exits 7 and 7A
Food service resumed at the Joyce Kilmer Service Area today. It had been closed since March 31st. All service areas are open for food, fuel, and restrooms except Richard Stockton, which is closed for construction.
On this date in 1951, the Turnpike opened for business when a blue 1950 DeSoto entered the roadway at Int. 3. About 10.8 billion vehicles have followed that DeSoto onto the road in the 70 years since.
A sinkhole has forced the closure of all lanes to the northbound inner and outer roadways at Interchange 11. Emergency pavement repairs are underway. Enter at Interchange 10 if you’re heading north. Access to the southbound roadways at 11 is not affected.
Cash collections have been suspended at all Turnpike toll plazas as a precaution against the spread of COVID-19. All tolls are being collected electronically.
Service areas remain open for the convenience of those who must be on the road. If you plan to visit, don't forget to wear a mask or other face covering.

Sorry for your car troubles. Not only is AAA not "illegal" on the Turnpike, all of the tow truck companies that work on the road are required to accept it. If you tried to use it but couldn't, you should call the Turnpike customer service office at 732-750-5300, ext 8750.

The new express E-ZPass lanes at Interchange 18E are open to traffic. The northbound lanes opened this weekend. The southbound lanes opened earlier this month. Drivers can now enter and exit the road at that location without going through the toll plaza.

Sunoco opened the convenience store and fuel pumps at the new Alexander Hamilton Service Area this afternoon. The Starbucks at that location is scheduled to open next week. Alexander Hamilton is located on the southbound Eastern Spur between exits 16E and 15E.

Southbound signs on the southern 60 miles of the roadway have warned about the incident since Delaware Memorial Bridge officials announced they had to close both spans. Where were you stuck & how could we have gotten word to you sooner?

A collision and truck fire at milepost 3.2 southbound has blocked both southbound lanes and one northbound lane. Southbound traffic is being diverted off the Turnpike at Interchange 4.
The Thomas Edison Service Area will close for construction on Sept. 8th and remain closed until May of 2019. There will be no food, no fuel, no parking, and no bathroom facilities during construction.
