✅ The YOYO IR1 is an incrementally paced test, so that means athletes don’t have to worry about pacing, like they do in a time trial or bronco. This is a big ✔️ The YOYO IR1 is a great test, however, if you’re still unsure about how use it to determine an accurate MAS… /4

✅ The YOYO IR1 can be used to determine MAS provided the Heaney regression equation is used 🚫 Failing to do so will result in an overestimation of an athletes MAS 🚫 An overestimated MAS = prescription of conditioning sessions that are too hard /3

In addition to the above, they are also used to determine Maximal Aerobic Speed, however, this process is often bastardised. So, can we use the YOYO IR1 or YOYO IR2 to determine MAS? 🤔 First up, I’m going to look at the YOYO IR1. /2

Whilst I’m not taking on any individualised running programs, the 5km & 10km running plans alongside the 2023 Team Sport Conditioning Plan have proven to be very popular 📌 These programs are perfect for athletes & runners looking to improve their 5, 10km & pre-seasons 2/2

Stemming from the number of enquires that I have had from coaches & athletes about running programs, the new year has brought some renewed running enthusiasm. As such, I thought it was an opportune time to cover the TCC running program options👇 1/2 https://t.co/8Z9F05hLb8
