The FDA just approved Wegovy for MASH—the 2nd ever treatment for this silent killer liver disease and the first one with significant capabilities for widespread adoption. This is a huge development for liver patients everywhere! https://t.co/z2nuuPYE9i

For many years doctors have told me that the best treatment for NAFLD/NASH (now referred to medically as MAFLD/MASH) was simply losing weight. That’s because we did not have any pharmaceutica…

@FoxNews @DrJBhattacharya @peta @DrJBhattacharya loved your comment on the rise of chronic disease...we had funding to AHRQ last year for the first Congressionally funded study on NAFLD/NASH. Over 90 million American's are estimated to have some form of this disease and we need more attention from NIH!

At a recent UNGA sidelines event, many prominent health policy experts had never ever heard of NAFLD/NASH. How is it that our healthcare system is failing so badly to address this issue? And what can we do?

The energy in the room was electric. Packed to standing-room-only capacity, it held diverse representatives from nations as far afield as Qatar, Africa, and Brazil. These were not just academics or…

Good article from @AgrawalNina! Years ago I asked a room full of Hepatologist's what the most effective treatment for NAFLD/NASH was and they unanimously said surgeries like this. That's shifting today, because now GLP-1 drugs are changing the game. https://t.co/0IkdHE2Pza

Recent research suggests that a new approach could help even patients with advanced forms of fatty liver disease.

This incredible event hosted by @economistimpact & the UN General Assembly challenged some of the traditional dialogue and narrative around NASH/NAFLD and issued a challenge: we have enough data to act now. Proud to attend on behalf of the ALF @liverUSA

Ten years ago today my mother passed away only SIX weeks after being diagnosed with the liver disease NASH. It's a silent killer for so many becausenof a lack of screening and awareness. I wrote about dealing with her sudden loss here. https://t.co/p8s4D9jCHV

My mother passed away suddenly four years ago this month after a short battle with late-stage NASH. Which is impossible, but somehow true. Just a few days before being diagnosed with NASH she was…

@asymmetricinfo By processing screening results and providing detailed and informative diagnosis and action plans, we can free up medical specialists to focus on the truly relevant at-risk patients with more severe conditions. AI can provide realtime and lifelong follow-up and guidance too /end

@asymmetricinfo It takes years to train hepatologists and the second they are brought on their schedules are essentially booked solid forever. GPs can act as first-line but are also time-constrained to ten minute annual checkups for their patients. LLM AIs will transform this paradigm /3

@asymmetricinfo As just one example, I advocate to raise awareness of fatty liver disease, which impacts ~80 million Americans, most of whom are unaware they have it Doctors resist universal screening which could help with early intervention because they cannot handle the volume of patients /2
