I am committed to working with @mhclg & @LGAcomms to unlock local power, strengthen collaboration between tiers of government, & build stronger local leadership & thriving communities.

They are a strong voice for neighbourhoods, can ease concerns about remote unitary authorities, & are perfect partners in the delivery of local public services.

I welcome this Bill as a step towards our longstanding call to shift power from Westminster to communities. But true devolution must fully recognise & empower England’s 10,000 parish & town councils as the grassroots tier of local government.
