Another thing that makes this result surprising is that no other RCT has ever shown superiority of one local modality over another for stage III NSCLC. That includes Albain, ESPATUE, EORTC-08941.
Median EFS < 10 months with RT for stage III disease raises a lot of eyebrows. Makes me wonder if EFS events were triggered by RT changes around the tumour. These can trigger RECIST but are often not true progression, and these could be worse after I/O. We’ll see the paper.
