Wow! Just 28% of museum workers are content with their jobs. Compare with 48% of overall desk job workers. Sounds like a crisis to me.

As of today, I am stepping down as co-chair of #MCN2023 I hope to use this opportunity to start a discussion about what museum workers really need from their networks and conferences (a thread)

4. Open your offices as an extension of the gallery- add “Please Touch” signs to everyone’s desk 5. Make a map of your museum marked with all the best places to secretly make-out. Partner with Trojan to promote. You’re welcome-just ask that I be credited in the grant narrative

3. Have your interpretative staff take over a Walmart wearing Blue vests. When people come - convince them that it’s 2060 and this is a historic house museum of Walmart. Show them house to use the self-check out

5 Absolutely free ideas to help your museum stand out : 1. Make a cereal in the shape of little collections items- with marshmallow “Do not touch signs” 2. Create a computer virus that forcibly mentions your museum in unstoppable pop-ups every few seconds

We're hiring PT Educators and Activators at the Smithsonian's Anacostia Community Museum. This is a great opportunity for those looking for ways to enter the field. Looking for great storytellers, not necessarily scholars. All application materials here: https://t.co/Ev8tOMbauY

Here goes nothing! I started a YouTube channel for my #museum content. Hopefully a good mix of funny and thoughtful. First video "Reacting to Museum TikToks My Wife Sent Me." Let's just say Cara knows me well. Anyone at #NCPH2023 need entertainment? https://t.co/CCX5TEcTIR

There are amazing POC interpreters who are really making a difference out there. (@magthehistorian, @MommasHistory) But I also know that dealing with today's politicized visitors really takes a toll.

History museum folks, do you think "living history" as an interpretive tool is dying? I love museum theatre, but I think I'm losing faith in living history - especially the kind that depicts colonial/19th century.

But she has been totally happy for a year - using different pronouns and wearing dresses. She’s happy! And doesn’t feel shame. At the end of the day - If my can avoid bringing in the weight of transphobic history onto her identity- that’s a win.

You’d think that as a queer non-gender-conforming person myself…having a trans kid would be NBD, but it has been a journey. Believing a 4 year old when they tell you who they are — It felt like uncharted territory in the realm of identity and acceptance.

A truly heartwarming moment for my trans kid when 3 of her classmates and kindergarten teacher showed up to March with us in the #MarchForQueerAndTransYouth in DC It’s one thing to say you support - but actually showing up! #TransDayofVisability

Just wondering if we’ve all had enough of giant Jenga yet? Cuz like, there are lots of other cool things to do for fun in public spaces. Surprise us! Use the *essence* of an idea without copying the exact thing. #MakePlacesUniqueAgain

“Tell me more stories about when you were a kid,” my daughter asked this morning- making me lose track of all time and space amd making us late for carpool- due to being absorbed in spinning tales of long ago… - said the history museum educator 🤷‍♀️
