Finally, we found that sequential pro- and anti-inflammatory treatments create a regenerative-permissive microenvironment that promotes re-entry of mouse Müller glia into the cell cycle while preserving their neurogenic potential.

Contrary to the classical view, by decoupling proliferation and neurogenesis events following retinal degeneration, we found that the beneficial effects of inflammatory signaling on Müller glia proliferation are shared by both 🐸 and 🐭
