Today was very quiet in The STEM room as the chickens have left for the farm. Friday, Ss came by to say their good-byes; PreK gathered around the chicken cage to "wish the chickens well." Thank you @JudyCtrHES for giving our Ss this wonderful learning experience @GIS_Cromwell

Sally, Lemon Drop & Nuggets first outdoor playdate with Ms. B's & Ms. Reed's prek classes. The chicks enjoyed checking out life beyond their coop. @BCPSHES

Loved seeing & hearing 2nd grade future computer scientists at @BCPSHES use @ScratchJr Message blocks to illustrate how computers encode & decode information. “The code is data” & “The computer is processing [the data].” I also got to see a chick hatch! #bcps_csi @CTE_BaltCoPS

Continuing our "Life on the Farm" unit, kindergartners learned how to make butter from creme today. There was a lot of 'shaking' going on. Ss were excited to discover the liquid became a solid in 3 minutes! @JudyCtrHES @BCPSHES

Today we welcomed our first chicks @BCPSHES Throughout the day Ss watched chicks hatch from their eggs as it was live streamed into the classrooms. Thank you @Jennzer for choosing the perfect day to visit (& help set up the web cam)! Can't wait to see what, who, tomorrow brings

Valentine's Day in STEM. Prek Ss create bobbing hearts and learn the secret to the bob is in the twist around the finger! 1st graders are challenged to build a tower with conversation hearts and popsicle sticks. @BCPSHES

Ss celebrated #EarthDay in STEM this week. Some classes planted seeds, others made flower seed balls to attract butterflies, used @MrTrashWheel as example to make a robot to clean the Earth or designed tool with recyclables to pick up litter. So impressed w/ Ss work @DLPinamonti

Today PreK celebrated Earth Day in STEM. We brainstormed what we could do for the Earth then made our own trash cans to help clean up our planet. Ss reused toilet paper tubes (thx Ms. Cindy for always saving them for for us) and cardboard pieces from #theexchangaree @DLPinamonti
