This group of 5th graders had fun smashing a pumpkin in our garden this morning. We predicted what organisms will decompose it and left it outside to observe at recess each day. Hint- think FBI (fungus, bacteria, and invertebrates)! @IsonSpringsES @AderoCarter @alexbatesedu

Today we discovered some larvae in the acorns we collected last week. After some research, I learned they come from the acorn weevil, which drills holes in acorns to lay eggs. Fascinating! Opportunities to engage in STEM are all around. @AderoCarter
