That’s a wrap on Project Launch! I love being able to extend their learning and explore new things. To celebrate the end, we created light-up plushies! It was such a fun, hands-on way to explore circuits.

This week, we dived into Africa’s vibrant culture through literature and hands-on activities! After reading "Ladi’s Pots," students sequenced the story with a flow map and, together, crafted a pot using the steps. They became the experts and taught the class how to craft a pot!

It’s so hard to believe that this writing was done independently by kindergartners! The WFBB program has significantly improved my teaching techniques and has transformed their writing. They were so excited to write about spending a day with a character from the text.

I am in awe of these kindergarteners and how well they are implementing Thinking Maps! After reading The Snowy Day, I split them into groups with the task to “retell the story,” and this is what they produced! They are so proud to show off their work as they present it.

What better way to learn about our 5 senses than some hands-on experience? These scientists were exploring pumpkins using their sense of touch and smell! We then described the pumpkin by creating a bubble map.

We have been working on identifying colors and brainstorming objects for the color of the day. Last week, after creating circle maps together I noticed several students creating their own after they finished their color monster. Today, I saw students labeling the objects.

These amazing mathematicians took on their first non-curricular thinking task to start building a thinking classroom. Hexagon Havoc from @pgliljedahl, was the perfect task to begin our journey with. I could see them deeply engaged, collaborating, and wanting more!

After they built something that could be found in this NP, they had to then write about it. We shared our discoveries with one another by creating a circle map.

This week, we have been researching the Redwood National Park. Today, I gave them materials to explore. After they explored, I challenged them to build something that they would see in Redwood. Tall trees started to emerge, and one student made a sun to help the trees grow.

Incorporating songs and movements into my teaching practices. One example is the “strong sentence” song that I created with movements to help Ss with remembering capitals, lowercase, finger spaces, sounding out words, and punctuation.

We have been reading books and determining if they are imaginative. After this discussion about personifying objects, I decided it was a great time to implement this in my classroom to tie in with the imaginative elements that we have been discussing. Here is a kinder example!

Activating background knowledge is not only important for MLs to assist with comprehension of the text and concept, but is a great way to learn more about each and every student. Today, we did just that by using a Nearpod to activate prior knowledge about farms!

Today, these amazing learners brainstormed ways to catch a Yeti, and then teamed up with our 4th grade buddies to create their very own Yeti trap. Seeing their creative ideas come to life, and how proud they were when their trap was successful was the highlight of my day!
