Great argument why Content and Learning Coordinators can be more effective than 'specialists'. We need to update how we guide and support teachers as the entire system continues to evolve @EDU_GovNL
I do think I need to untangle some of my thoughts on this. I appreciate that there are voices outside of the classroom that are important and innovative. Some of those are in "education" as a field, and others are in other fields like "educational research" or "educational

Very true. I left a leadership position when the system failed to support me in my efforts to support my students. There is so much lost potential in our education system... it's not surprising that so many are leaving the profession altogether.
We talk a lot about teacher turnover as a system problem. Leadership turnover is a system problem too. Each year: • About 1 in 10 principals leave the profession. • Nearly 1 in 5 leave their school. At the same time: • Nearly half of principals report symptoms consistent with

A wonderful memory captured by a coworker. Happy energy, reassurance, some tears and a bump on the head... Everything all at once! Teaching in December is a whirlwind!!! Enjoy every minute!!! Happy Holidays to all of our hardworking educators at @NLSchoolsCA
Teaching in December is all about juggling curriculum, excitement, emotions (because it's not all excitement), and so much more! Wishing a very well-deserved holiday season to all of my coworkers! Enjoy!!! #TisTheSeason #Recharge #MakeMemories

Good idea for @EDU_GovNL @NLSchoolsCA! We need to collect data to inspire positive change!
N.B. launches strategy to retain, recruit teachers. I have advocated for years that exit interviews are necessary to understand why teachers leave the profession early. It's great to learn that one jurisdiction is going to implement them. #nbed #onted

I think the public would be shocked if the @NLTeachersAssoc put out the stats regarding teachers taking leave or resigning so far this year. We need to see change @EDU_GovNL New Gov = New Hope🤞

After introducing my new card game to discuss writing instructions before students create their own, they've changed two key parts of the game and the name. It's so much better! We should be open to learning from students just as they learn from us🤩 @NLSchoolsCA

Become an ally by adopting these simple but powerful actions all year long: · Listen · Believe · Educate (yourself and others) · Speak out · Intervene · Act #EndGBV #GovNL @HelenConwayNL #GovNL

Teachers are the backbone of any education system. If teachers are breaking...what does that say about the level of education our children receive??? @EDU_GovNL

Communication and Collaboration are key to learning. But is it happening enough in our schools? Creating open ended experiences where students can develop at their own rate starts with providing teachers with open ended resources that can be modified & developed! @NLSchoolsCA

So, here's the thing. When you are getting ready to cook or bake you get all the ingredients out first so you aren't running around trying to find things while cooking. An easy thing that makes a big difference 😊
When you assume kids have prior knowledge and skills they don’t all have, you end up playing rewind and catch up through the whole lesson. When you review and pre-teach pre-skills and scaffold up, you move towards a model for lessons in which everyone can access the material.

I think governments need to worry less about teachers leaving and worry more about teachers 'quietly quitting'...

Tomorrow marks a new chapter for Newfoundland and Labrador. Our new cabinet will be sworn in; the team that will help lead our province forward. It will be the honour of my life to serve as Premier, and together, we’ll get to work delivering better healthcare, lower taxes, and
