I try my best to give Aerith the benefit of the doubt and rationalize her behavior. In Rebirth I see her moments with Cloud as an unhealthy coping mechanism for her loneliness rather than spiting Tifa, who's legitimately her friend. She misses Zack and wants what CT have so bad.
Nojima says around OG FF7 a senior programmer said to him “Aerith and Tifa don’t really get along, do they?” But that was not his intention and he thought he did a good job portraying them as friends.
