I’ve completely switched my default mode of operation this past year from saving as much as possible to just simply make more. It happened naturally for various reasons; the most prominent being running the HFT startup. Quite the difference on how I operate now. I’d say it’s a

My empathy for Taylor Swift exploded when I realized that she's a spergy theater kid femcel who girlbossed her way into fucking the local football star. Good for her.

This idiot believes that carrier-based F35s aren't actually airplanes.
It really depends on what you consider an "airplane" but I think there's a general consensus that Santos Dumont invented the airplane because it was a motorized vehicle that took off on its own. The US He insists on the opposite out of ego, and the world agrees out of imperialism

My belief in continued immigration to the US is that we will not have to cede important elements of our culture and legal traditions to allow it.

I don't believe this, but if I did, my answer would be to expel everybody who wasn't a member of my culture from my country. What the actual fuck.
Here's the Premier of New South Wales: "We don't have the same freedom of speech laws that they have in the U.S., and the reason for that is that we want to hold together a multicultural community." You can have free speech or you can have multiculturalism. You can't have both.

Reminder that I have never and will never sell anybody anything on this platform. The vast majority of my audience is younger and less well-off than me, and my advice represents the best way I know how to get from where you are to where I am. It's 75% overlapping w/ Dave.

If you are currently following the advice of any such people, I would suggest that you give Dave a shot, as you are lacking one of the elements I mentioned.

The amount you should listen to Dave Ramsey drops to 0 as your IQ and maturity rise above a certain threshold. The amount you should listen to crypto/"dividend" influencers on twitter is always 0.
Dave Ramsey math to become a millionaire by 30. - Pay off your 1.5% mortgage. - Pay off your 0.9% car loan. - Buy a 2K used car so you can have 10K of repairs. - Use debit cards, not credit cards. - Don't allocate even a tiny bit to #btc - Make coffee at home.

Home ownership should not be primarily about accumulating net worth. If you catch the right home price and use the 30 year fixed mortgage to its fullest advantage, it can work out well. But a house is mostly about your housing needs.

The main reason homeowners are wealthier is that, compared to renters (as a group), they are: Older Higher income More responsible The median homeowner has 20 times as many financial assets as the median renter!
One of the reasons homeowners end up 40X richer than renters is that paying a mortgage is forced savings into an asset that while not as good as stocks from a return perspective, is illiquid and generally keeps up with inflation. Getting kicked out of your house if you default

Active investment management is already questionable enough that you don't have to misrepresent performance or use the wrong benchmark to find valid criticisms

The 9.3% already includes passthroughs, as well as management fees and bottomline performance fees. As far as 9.3% compared to "17% for the S&P"
Citadel’s 9.3% return sounds bad until you realize it’s actually worse. The S&P 500 is up roughly 17% this year. A Vanguard index fund charging 0.04% would have nearly doubled Citadel’s performance. But here’s what makes this story interesting: Citadel doesn’t charge 2 and 20

I remember watching a Swedish movie wherein an immigrant from a poor eastern/southeastern European country attempts to smuggle in pounds of sausage & other meat. The disdain on the part of the Swedish border guard is terrific.
A passenger from Congo believed the food they were bringing was fine; it was not. In the passenger’s suitcase O’Hare Agriculture Specialists found 11lbs of beans w/ pests, 17lbs of unknown plants, & 4lbs of nonhuman primate meat. These items are prohibited, seized, & destroyed.

Can't be bothered to look it up right now, but there is some letter from Jefferson about the French celebrating Christmas as a distinctly alien tradition to his American sensibilities.

If I wish you "happy holidays", it's because I'm paying respect to the multigenerational effort of Jews to become as American as they can be. 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲

The best part of the American Jewish invention of Hanukkah is that they then exported it to global Jewry, another example of total American Cultural Victory.

A lot of people try to pwn Jews by pointing out that Hannukah is mostly an invented holiday. I think it's a wonderful example of American Jews trying to assimilate without betraying their identity. Christmas itself was viewed as a decadent Catholic holiday in much of 18c US.
