Today in things you don't hear very often... "Well, research on testing performance of eighth graders from Kentucky indicates that it’s Pondiscio, not the naysayers, who has the right message about the NAEP proficiency score." https://t.co/1tu9YTtyXW

Innes: Eighth-grade NAEP reading and math scores align closely with results from tests showing which students will succeed in college.

As much as possible, a parent shouldn’t outsource the responsibility of educating their kids to others—teachers, tutors, screens/apps, etc. Yes, there is a place for these things, and there isn’t anything inherently wrong with any of them; I don’t have a supernatural belief in

After struggling for several days with "partial quotients" division (don't ask) I taught my 5th graders long division. I'll never forget the exasperation and look on one kid's face. Less "That's so easy!" than "You knew this all along and didn't tell us?!"

@Russwarne When we started homeschooling when my son was 11, I finally showed him the much disparaged "parent way" of doing long division. All he'd know were these types of complex steps. "That's so easy!" he said. He couldn't believe they hadn't taught the simplest and most direct way of

The way Thanksgiving is taught in school is a perfect example of how the manipulation of history has been used against America. How many ppl know that the first Thanksgiving was the result of a military alliance between the pilgrims and Indians? Now, why do you think that is?

"Too many classrooms have drifted toward the platform model: my identity, my politics, my anxieties. But children don’t need our performance, and they certainly don’t need our anxieties. They need institutions that are molds—stable, trustworthy, and oriented toward the common

“Let’s give socialism a chance,” said a student writing in The Student Life, a college newspaper. Americans should know we already gave socialism a chance... The Pilgrims learned (the hard way) that socialism doesn’t work. https://t.co/FbPjf1xIEs

People are turning to socialism. Two-thirds of Americans ages 18-29 hold a “favorable view” of it. New York just elected a “proud socialist” mayor. My video explains why his ideas would make...Read...

Thousands of American social studies teachers get to learn about using Ms. Marvel to teach about historical “trauma” and “identity” Is this a joke? How about using the Declaration to teach civics?

Some 3500 teachers, admin, and other school personnel attend this conference This year, they're featuring Crenshaw, a critical race theorist But I was told that there was absolutely no CRT in schools, that it was only an obscure legal theory!

Your govt in action: The U.S. Dept. of Education had an in-house health clinic that provided only 267 services (mostly flu shots, blood pressure, and "health coaching") to a total of 60 patients in 2024. That's $1,431 per service & $6,366 per patient. https://t.co/4JiIC92dtT

Lowering standards for all isn’t a solution to inequality. It’s wishful thinking that shortchanges our brightest kids and deepens the real divides.

Students need to hear and read the stories of the great men and women from American and western history: heroes, villains, and the common man. In a word, we must restore history via ***biography*** to America's social studies classrooms.

My latest looks at the signals we send students when school culture and curriculum leans too heavily into the bad and the broken. It doesn’t produce activism or prepare young people to enter civic life. It’s nudging them toward exhaustion, withdrawal, and retreat.
