Fully trained interventional cardiologists @BCIS_uk have been offering to train to help deliver mechanical thrombectomy for stroke here for 5 years now (following precedent set in many other countries) but are thwarted by protectionism & politics. 😳. Let’s put Patients first?!
Did you know that mechanical thrombectomy for stroke is 7 times more effective than thrombolysis for MI? It saves lives, reduces disability. Much of the UK still doesn’t have 24hrs access to thrombectomy and only 4% of stroke patients get one. #anaesthesia2025

Complications in the cath lab can happen, and that’s the time you need kit quickly. We have designed a new complication trolley, standardised for each of our labs so we can access all the equipment needed swiftly without having someone leaving the room. @besagemo1 @bakerCharlot

Everyone is talking about radiation protection but this comes at a significant financial cost and not always practical. After trying most devices out there I am pleased to say we have found an effective and affordable way to protect our Cath lab team during every case!

Highly recommend this course to all interventional AHPs. Superb faculty, plenty of hands-on experience, prefaced by stimulating seminars on a wide variety of PCI topics.. Extra points for starting the day with a session on Human Factors in the lab 👏👏 Thank you @MoSahebjalal
