A powerful reminder: seat belts save lives. Two semis crashed Wednesday morning on Interstate 94 near the County Road 10 overpass in Otter Tail County. One went off the road and down an embankment. All drivers survived, thanks to seat belts.

We teamed up with agencies from Hennepin, Anoka and Ramsey counties for a 5-hour speed enforcement on I-35W and I-694 this weekend. We tackled dangerous driving to make roads safer. Thanks to all who helped and to drivers who chose safety.

Street racing is illegal and dangerous. Troopers recently arrested five for reckless driving — cars were impounded. These events often involve violent felons, guns, impaired drivers and blocked roads. Don’t risk lives. We’re cracking down.

After recent wildfires, Trooper Andrew Haken rushed to a grass fire near Virginia on May 20. "I knew it would be imperative to get there quickly." He used his fire extinguisher & a shovel, joining deputies and a resident to stop the spread.
