It’s construction sediment. It happens every time we get a heavy rain. Sites that don’t properly secure their property, bleed sediment & debris into stormwater system that flows into bay, smothering what little seagrass there is left. The penalties & fines are not severe enough.
Not sure whats going on here at Maurice Ferré Park near the PAMM. Is this some kind of discharge or runoff? Whatever it is, it sure ain't natural and can't be good for Biscayne Bay’s ecosystem. @Damianpardo8 @LOUISAGUIRRE @lrobertsonmiami @MiamiWaterkpr @peterehrlich1 @tessriski

It is so perplexing. What is in the water?? Scientists have yet to find a reason. Sure seems given the mass coral deaths last summer/ fall and now this, that the shallow water environment is falling apart. May very well be unrelated, but still points to accelerating problems.
Sawfish deaths rise by 6 in 7 days as first sawfish is rescued in emergency effort. Scientists still have not identified smoking gun that’s causing this. At least 70 different species of fish have been seen spinning & acting erratically. It’s been 6 months.
