I’ve no words on this…it is so upsetting. I’ve had to let go of 5 sites, make decisions which crucify me as a director, my reputation on the line and 18 years of being totally in control and on growth journey to facing into demise So grateful to be lobbying with @Sacha_Lord
Every single Hospitality venue across the UK is being crucified or closed by untenable energy bills. Yesterday British Gas posted record profits of £751 million. 10 times the previous year of £72 million. Anyone else angry? Morning @ofgem.

When a pub or restaurant closes, it’s not just the loss of a business and jobs… It affects the whole supply chain and ecology around it. A REDUCTION in VAT would prevent this. My comments this morning on @SkyNews:

To those of you struggling - take advice, speak to as many people as possible and don’t leave it too late! Keep going!

We truly are in troubled times. I’ve learnt so much about how the world works and how it can eat you up, take advantage of you, and how little it cares for you currently.

Calling it a day is all about protecting our people, myself, my family and preserving what’s working going forward.

It’s resulted in all sorts of levers being pulled and decisions being made which I’d never thought I’d have to make. Letting people down and being a place of constant stress and pressure is not where we aspire to be.

Today we announced the closure of our precious Stretford Foodhall. I’ve been off social media for the last 18 months. Battling to save this and other businesses we operate.

A long day taking in all the emotions & goodwill shown to SF. It’s hard to share what it’s taken to get to today and decide to call it quits. My Ego has really struggled and my heart aches for where it’s all ended up. In the end it couldn’t be anywhere else. Thank you Sacha
Todays announcement of the loss of Stretford Foodhall is yet again another loss that could have been avoided, if the Gov't had listened. Mital and his wife are incredible operators, who I wish all the best with their other ventures. If they can't make it, God help the rest.

A celeb these days just has to ask for a free birthday cake to get the world talking about them. We're a hard working family business employing people in the local community & doing great jobs like this for local people. Can we get a few RTs to support a local family business

Heartbreaking. I met the team at Industry last year, they were lovely. Again, citing Energy as a factor. This Gov’t don’t care about Hospitality. Under their watch communities are breaking up, our High Streets are falling apart. We urgently need a General Election.

Today, I met the CEO of @Ofgem and his team, to discuss the perilous situation Hospitality finds itself in, with untenable bills and contracts. I'm pleased to say it was constructive and they took on board comments and asks. More to come over the next couple of weeks.
Our CEO, Jonathan Brearley, and Head of Non-Domestic Retail Policy, Louise van Rensburg, heard from key representatives of Manchester businesses today about their energy challenges Thanks to @TeamNexperia @GM_Active @Sacha_Lord @RevolutionBars for sharing your insights

**Break through on Energy bills** If you are in Hospitality or the Night Time Economy, an open or closed business, update coming in the morning. Legals have been busy...doing what @ofgem have failed at.

Every new channel running with another Boris scandal. Please can we get back to the biggest scandal of all: Energy Co's and Water Co's ransacking the UK. Causing businesses to close on a daily basis. Throwing families into poverty. Just to keep shareholders happy.

Im really trying to be positive for everyone I know but also my own mental health but if everything financially keeps working against us & our guests we are fucked as a business & there is no future. I get economics but it’s impossible to run food businesses now.

Four moves would save UK Hospitality: . @ofgem stop the Energy Co’s from ripping us all off. It’s scandalous. . Reduce VAT, in line with Europe. . Review outdated Business Rates. . Lower visa requirement to 21k to help staff shortages.
