To me, #WorldBookDay isn’t just about sharing the books we love, but understanding that we have the power to write our own stories in life - so today we did just that! My class are Little People, with Big Dreams💭 (sorry, bit deep for a Thursday night)

We marked Children’s Mental Health week by taking part in a daily mile, learning about belonging & how to look after our minds🧠 But felt it was important to press pause on daily life & take the time to enjoy something my Year 2s love most…art! Here’s our Year 2 Art Retreat🎨

Fast forward to the spring term and we’re busy uncovering our history enquiry ‘What is the history of the streets beneath our feet?’ Learning all about the exciting history of our local area and the history of flight ✈️✨

An annual ritual for ‘Acts of Kindness Day’ sharing the love for all the adults that make our school so special ❤️‍🩹

A team refresh to our ‘Wall of Wonder’ - now one of my favourite corners of school. A space that celebrates everything our school encompasses; being kind, working hard and flying high ✈️☁️

A winter yoga retreat for my lovely little Year 2s to help us practise mindfulness, stretch our bodies and find calm 🧘🏼‍♀️✨ We can’t wait to hold another one in the warmer spring months outside in the fresh air 🌞

A glorious autumn term enquiry ‘S.O.S how do we clean the ocean mess?’ Around saving our world from plastic pollution and the effects of climate change. The children learnt about jellyfish blooming and created jellyfish sculptures made from recycled plastic 🪼♻️ 🌎

Y2 welcomed local aviation expert Brian to discuss our estate’s incredible history, linking to their enquiry ‘What is the history of the streets beneath our feet?’ The children shared their knowledge and Brian gave us insider info on all things planes, engines and pilots! ✈️🪁

We’ve had wonderful World Book Day at @HucknallFHA 📚🪁 ☑️ virtual author visits ☑️ dressing up as our favourite characters ☑️ mystery readers ☑️ ‘blind date with a book’ ☑️ WBD assembly with a special reenactment of Matilda …and so much more! #WorldBookDay2024 💫

Not a dry eye in the house tonight, we are simply BURSTING with pride for our KS1 children. Today they performed their nativity ‘The Landlord’s Cat’ to the whole school, family and friends. Their confidence, passion & enthusiasm was incredible. What a lovely way to end the term🎄
