This is where I work as an A&E consultant. It's like this everywhere, everyday. Over the last 14 years, the unacceptable has become the accepted. My patients deserve better. #GE2024

Thoughts on the NHS….. Einstein said the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. But this is what is happening in the NHS right now; hoping things will improve when just giving the same failing medicine. As an A&E

I am so bone tired & disgusted to be working in an NHS that’s been flogged half to death by successive Conservative governments that cannot & will not permit a national health service to flourish. Why do I have to see patients take their last breaths on trolleys in corridors?

“This is nakedly political. Nurses will not be gagged in this way by a bullying government." @patcullen9 responding to government ‘letter before action’ and threat of interim court order to stop entire 48-hour nurse strike. https://t.co/MMzPJ7vObf

If you are wondering why we are striking. This is my payslip right at the very end of my second year as a doctor.

Quite right. Remind me again what a senior Lawyer, accountant, company board member would charge for their time per hour … I’ll wait

Last night, 315 MPs voted to sack strikers. At the next general election, vote to sack them.

Nursing will always defend patients' safety fiercely. The #RCNStrike is calling time on a crisis in the NHS that has depleted our profession and degraded standards of care. The govt must grasp what's at stake and step up urgently. RT to show your solidarity with the strikes.

BREAKING🚨| The government has announced anti-strike legislation. When workers democratically vote to strike, they can be forced to work and sacked if they don’t. This is wrong, unworkable, and almost certainly illegal.

For those who don't fully understand what is up with the NHS, here is a thread for you that might help. I'm a consultant physician working as a doctor in the NHS in Yorkshire and Wales for 32 years now. I have experienced the NHS at its best (2008) and its worst (2022).

Harrowing words from a senior emergency medicine doctor showing the despair at not being able to provide the level of care every doctor hopes to for their patients. Every doctor, nurse & HCW can empathise with this right now. Shared w/ permission. Pls RT to get this out there.

The time’s come to admit the NHS in England has ceased to function as a proper emergency service. That’s not because of strikes: it’s why there are strikes. It’s failed because of deliberate neglect by a government that has always wanted to privatise it to end free care for all.

Critical incidents being declared by multiple NHS trusts across England. Patients stuck in ambulances & corridors for 24, 48 hours or more. Patients dying before they even get a bed. How dare the govt stand idly by while inflicting such horrific conditions on patients & staff?

The staff are on their knees and waiting times are at an all time high. My colleagues are working at maximum capacity and will burn out due to the stress they’re under. And if we miss that sick patient waiting in the corridor, what then? #SaveOurNHS
I’ve worked in A&E for 22 years & seen nothing like this before. The NHS is in a critical state. We need urgent action for sake of our staff & patients. @SteveBarclay @RishiSunak we need you to listen to those who know what’s happening. To get them to listen, pls retweet

Tonight, I’ve come close to tears whilst apologising to patients for the standards of care we are able to provide. In my 22 years of being an A&E Dr, I’ve never seen things so bad. It’s the same everywhere. I just hope patients know fault lies with politicians not NHS staff.

Nurses today are earning £5000 a year less in real terms than they were in 2010. It's no surprise why 1 in 9 left the NHS last year. Staff and patients alike are impacted by dangerously low staffing levels in the NHS. Nurses are striking for all of us. And we should back them.
