Terribly sad to hear of the passing of the godfather of heavy metal. Albeit, it is a miracle that Ozzy lived as long as he did. This is a photo from Ozzfest 1998. Dad took us & it was the moment I knew I was a metalhead for life. Thanks for all the music Ozzy. Sleep well. 🦇

Flying Ant Day in South Wales! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 This annual swarming event arrives with a period of hot weather & is made up of winged queen ants and males who are looking to mate and establish new colonies! . They likely swarm to evade predators, like these gulls!

Alcester’s paradisiacal river Arrow. A tea strainer and colander was all we needed to meet some of this stunning stream’s beautiful mini residents: minnows, spined loach and a single miller’s thumb - alongside spotting an egret, huge shoals of chub, and a very big barbel!

I was blessed to be back in the northwest Highlands last week, so, of course, I made time to catch up with my dear friend Ken ‘The Hermit of Treig’ Smith. Ken spent four decades living off grid and we wrote his book ‘The Way of the Hermit’ together in 2022. A remarkable man.

A beautiful brown trout ripped away my line on a tiny hook & very light gear, having registered the subtlest of bites on my float as I squinted into the waning light. Great to be back and blessed to be able to fish this stretch on the Glamorgan Angler’s ticket. #urbanfishing
